Or maybe playing a computer game where he gets to bang some hot fetish model then shoot her in the head...

It doesn;t really matter what he said or didn't say. What matters is how the general public will perceive it. The arguments in this thread are much too rational, as this is an emotional issue, not a rational issue.

Will Breivik saying he played a ton of video games make people "perceive" video games as dangerous?

Its more like the opposite, people already perceive video games as dangerous, like rock and roll, and D&D. Because when your trying to defend actions like this just admitting "I'm a hateful bigot" never seems to work very well.

The idea is that it takes extra effort and time to write properly, and they’d rather save the time. If you can still be understood, what’s the harm? While most of the time a sloppy post CAN be understood, the use of proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling is generally seen as respectable and desirable on most forums. It demonstrates an effort made to be understood, and to make your post an easy and pleasant read. By making this effort, you can often elicit more positive responses from the community, and instantly mark yourself as someone worth talking to.

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

Well I suppose you could make the argument that however many million people play Warcraft, and Modern Warfare, but don't follow it up with planning an attack for 8 years, planting a bomb outside a parliament building, and then going on to kill more than 70 people.

I want to know what the hell was going on with his mother (and other people who knew him) and why they didn't think he needed some kind of help, and didn't think the guy should have been in a mental institute somewhere.

Are grounded in that thing called reality.

-"Wait a minute.....who is that Frazz is talking to in the gallery? Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Can it be?....Frazz has just unleashed his hidden weiner dog from his mini bag, while quoting shakespeares "Let slip the dogs the war!!" GG

You know whats funny? You can't kill Children in WoW.

"The Imperium is nothing if not willing to go to any lengths necessary. So the Trekkies are zipping around at warp speed taking small chucks out of an nigh-on infinite amount of ships, with the Imperium being unable to strike back. feth it, says central command, and detonates every vortex warhead in the fleet, plunging the entire sector into the Warp. Enjoy tentacle-rape, Kirk, we know Sulu will." -Terminus

No he didn't. If he had used games as training his body count would be much lower for the simple reason that commercial games (with very few exceptions) teach you absolutely nothing about real world tactics and weapon use.

What is the relevance of that. The thread is on Brevik's motives/opinions, not hard reality.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It isn't about just playing games or playing games for a long time, but just a piece of a larger puzzle. Just playing video games isn't the culprit nor have the prosecutors made that suggestion. It is the nature of his relationship to the games he obsessed over, not just playing games or even playing games for a long time. The odds are you haven't been playing DDO for 16 hours a day for a year straight and think it is some kind of simulator for making a pure world free of, I don't know, let's say red heads. Games didn't make him a loon, being a loon made him act the way he did. Understanding his attitude towards gaming helps illustrate how his perspective was skewed when looked at with other evidence and in this case. He isn't a test case nor representative of all gamers and should be treated as such.
