If it has to be just a single model that is also an HQ that is also not a special character, then it excludes the imperial guard altogether. The most you can spend for guard in this way is roughly 100 points, half of what the maximum limit is. Likewise, any army that's not in power armor doesn't really stand a chance, as the only way you can get close is to just apply a fat wad of bloat.
If this is the case, then it's just another space marine circle... bible reading session...
Primas Psyker FTW
or Commisar Lord, at least he wont run.
Like a lot of things it is geared towards marines, but Crons and DE have a good chance I think. Automatically Appended Next Post: DarthSpader wrote:the tournament actually went pretty interesting. the hive tyrant and avatar ended up facing off, with the tyrant winning, then loosing to the space marine master with his storm shield and powerfist. (that 3+ invun just rocked) that marine master fought the warboss, and lost, (bad dice rolling on the marine end - he couldnt score a hit, and failed 2 of the 4 wounds put on him by the orc) the archon ended up tearing through the wolf lord, the daemon prince and grey knight to get to the finals vrs the warboss.. with the archon winning. his 2++ just kicked butt, and his agonizer and high init proved a very powerful alpha strike. his blast pistol also melted the lightning claw marine, the jump pack captain, and the chaos lord before even getting to the CC section.
DE archons are designed to do this. Kill other characters. Weight of attacks will overload their shadow field or clone field but 1 model rarely can. Agonizers or huskblades are just perfect assassinations.
Their old codex was even sicker with the old drugs.
