I havent had a lot of time to work on this due to my job, but I finally finished the tesla cannon configuration. Eventually, I plan on making a gauss cannon and console so I can use it as a command barge

Hello, I know I am very new here (even though I have lurked the forums for years) but now that I am here and because I am an avid paper modeler I really want to know if you would be able to tell me the source for these models or if you are the creator would it be possible to pass on the .pdo files or other templates used? I would love to try his out.
Someone on another forum I belong to also had photos of some unknown paper modelers build of a Necron Doomsday Ark, has anyone seen these or know where to find them... the patterns or templates that is?

Fantastic work on the build and the paint jobs on both by the way.

I am the creator of the lord (except the 3D model) and the barge, but I cant post plans
I may eventually design different versions like puppetswar does that I can post
do you have a link to the photos? I'd love to take a look at it
Commander Cain wrote:Very cool indeed! Must be nice to just print off another model when you feel like it!

it is a lot more work to assemble it though
I hope to get access to a laser cutter before long, which will help with the work a lot

The flat parts are cardboard, the cylinders are rolled paper and the small ones have toothpick cores for support, the coils for the tesla destructors are plastic, and the pivots for the thrusters are wood balls

Since scratchbuilding takes so long, I decided to just use the plastic models for infantry

Wow... I was impressed by your Monolith, but your pile of Homeworld/2 ships and Annihilation Barge are just ridiculously awesome.
Edit: I even see a transport of some kind from Time of Defiance. Obscure game reference Ho!

I've been working on a template for the doom/night scythe, nearly finished with the 3D model, then I need to unfold it.
Some of the more complex curves, like the armor plating on the body, will be added when building

To make sure I got the size right, can someone tell me:
Are the tesla destructors on the scythes the same size as the ones on the annihilation barge?
What is the width of the top armor plate (A)?
What is the width of the wings measured from inside the second slot (B)?

This is fantastic, you must have a lot of patience, every time I try this, I just end up with a clump of sticky paper and give up

I'm working on finishing some older projects so I have room to work on the scythe.

Its almost fully magnetized so I can field it as a ghost ark or a doomsday ark. I chose to glue the ribs together, and not glue the gauss flayers, so they can rotate, but will be upside-down as a doomsday ark

The first two pages have dried, and I completed building the core of the doom/night scythe.
Its three layers, with the center layer being an outline with scraps in the center.
I still need to clean up the edge a bit

For scale, the grid on my cutting mat is 1/2"

First two layers

All three layers

The last 5 sheets are drying right now, but probably wont be done for another couple of days

The laminated pages are finally dry, so I can continue work on the main body.

Adding a spacer to get the right shape

The outer edge of the wings, dotted lines are placement guides for the plating

The inner edge

This will be repeated for the other side

Ive started adding the armor plating. The details on the center one are a real pain to cut, especially the circles. When I build another, I will hopefully get it laser cut. (does anyone know of a good laser cutting service? Preferrably around Los Angeles, CA)
I did make a mistake in the placement of the plating on the left side, but it should be easy enough to hide.

I also built the engines

The wings are done
I used the last of my knife blades, so I'm not sure how much work I'll be able to do until the new ones I ordered come in.

Awesome work Malik, I'm assuming you got your measurements you were asking after, any chance you could make the layout available or at least reveal those two measurements so us other DIYers can figure scale out? When I was trying to figure out the measurements (for my budget Scythe), I went to G W site and looked at the 3D rotation view and compared the width of pilot's shoulder pads to a standard Warrior's shoulder pads and they appeared to be almost 1:1...so I simply took measurements directly from the screen which came out to 5.875" blade width. Talking to a friend (who is at Dragoncon so couldn't measure directly) said his Doomscythes were about as wide as his thumb and pinky spread which is over 8" on him easy, so my first estimate was WAY too small.

Progress has been slow on the weapons, lots of cylinders to roll
I finally received the 100-pack of blades I ordered, so it should go a bit faster

I'm still deciding how I want to do the coils on the Tesla Destructors this time. If I can find the right tool, I may turn some styrene tubing on my lathe.

I never did get the measurements, but I did scale it based on two different foam cases and figured I'm close enough. Before the model came out, I projected the image from the codex and came up with pretty much the same size as the foam, with just a bit of tweaking of the shape required. The 3D model is 7.5" x 6.5" x 1.5" excluding weapons.
I'll probably release the plans eventually, first I need to finish my build and find someone else to do a test build so I know where I need to focus on for instructions.

Thanks for the reply! My friend finally got back to me after his DC trip and gave me length and width measurements. Which are same as you mentioned. I went ahead and ordered one so it might be easier to extrapolate the weapon sizes and such. With painting commissions and school, the scratch built sorta is taking a back seat. :/

Some more progress, almost all parts are cut out now

Can anyone tell me how thick the model is? This one comes out to about 1.5" excluding weapons, 2.5" with the death ray attached

Tesla destructors are done except the coil section
Death ray and portal are primed and parts are painted green
The death ray and portal are both magnetized

Dry fit of the armor on the main body section

The weapons look awesome Malik. Sounds like you are about right on with the thickness measurement, but I'll know with certainty later this week...I have a few Scythes on the way. Once I get them, I can give you a concrete measurement if you don't get one beforehand.

I'm getting close to finishing the build. I just need to finish the tail, smooth the transition from the two side pieces to the hull, add the front sensors and a replacement for the cockpit, add a mount, and finish the weapons

bottom

Malik, the Scythe is 1.75 inches tall from lowest protrusion (where weapons mount) to the tip of the central (dorsal?) spine. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the measurement. Comparing a front-on picture to my model, it looks like the area around the spine on my model isnt as tall as the real model, probably enough for the extra 0.25"

No worries. If you need any other measurements let me know.

I've finally finished and primed the main body, I can start painting as soon as the primer cures
