So, 6 weeks and what do I have to show for it? Well besides the new scars on my ankle from the op, and a FW sized hole in my bank account from a weak will and too much time on the net recuperating, not as much painting as I had originally hoped got done.

However that motivator of the century that keeps kicking me in the pants reared its ugly head and I painted some more Nids for a recent no comp tournament at my local (read 200km away) GW battle bunker. Being no comp, and being Nids, I needed some more units to harden up my otherwise spammy list.

To that end I finished painting these guys:

Firstly, something that can be truly terrifying (especially if you and your opponent dont read the rules about toxin sacs only working in close combat til turn 4) in 6th ed, the notorious Flyrant. Twinlinked devs with brainleech will ruin alot of peoples days, casting iron arm on him and plopping down in front of the enemy is fun too.



This shot gives a much better view of the wings, which i obviously did with the airbrush. I'm quite happy with the effect and gives a very striking combination of colours I think.



Next, the bully of the list, Swarmlord and his two offsiders (tyrant guard), with the right combination of biomancy powers this guy is nigh on unstoppable. Stacking enfeeble on a unit of thunderhammer terminators making them S2(4)/T2 has to be the highlight of my tournament with this guy



Thirdly, a Trygon Prime. Bane of artillery, transports and devastator units the world over. Luckily enough when he isn't mishapping His 12 S5 shots make him worth taking despite his landraider sized price tag.
This is the FW version, which I bought for a themed apoc game about 4 years ago, hes been languishing in a box ever since, a prime and a lick of paint and he has a new lease on life in my Godzilla Mk II list.

What paints do you use to create this colour scheme, it's awesome! Also love all the little conversions going on especially the tyrant guard, how did you do them?

Really digging the jagged edges of your Trygon's Scything Talons. Also, love the Tyrant Guards and their forearm carapace plate.

Eldar caveman: I used mostly GW paints, there is a painting tut on my blog under hive guard if you wanted a detailed break down to save me rewriting it here.
The tyrant guard are 3rd ed hive tyrants, I GSd over the eyes, and made bone shields out of cardboard and GS for their forearms using rending claws as a base. The whips are from 3rd ed tyrant guard too.

Yeah that's awesome thanks, checked out the rest of your blog as well, some really nice looking stuff on there, and some ballsy conversions. Bookmarked for future reference.

Those are some very cool bugs you have there, lovely paint jobs. I like the way you have been converting them. The Mawlocs are cool, I've always liked the Mawloc.

The work on the Tyrannofex is good too, I think how you have integrated the gun with it's mouth is very well done.

Leech: Thanks mate, Tyrannofex is still one of my fav models in the army, pity hes so sucky (over priced) in the game atm.

No worries, I'm starting Nids as my second army when I return from travelling, and I was looking at a yellow chitin and a bone/skin coloured flesh parts, but I'm not the best of painters, and there is n way I could make mine look anyway near your sort of standards. But we all need something to aim for.

I have to honestly say that I don't like the transition from yellow to purple. Personally it doesn't do it for me.
But the conversions for these Nids are AMAZING! Some of the best I've seen.

The size of the devourers I think will count as 2x twinlinked devourers, and looks alot better proportion wise then the smaller ones that come with the set.

Wow! That Yellow and Blue colour scheme is stunning! I'd never have believed it could work for Tyranids, but it really does.

Some great work you've got here. A very brave choice of colours but you've pulled it off. I'm beavering away with my own Nid's at the mo (Hive Fleet Enzyme) completely different colours though.
I love the devourers, may have to pinch the idea at some point, hope you don't mind. I haven't got started a Tyrant yet, I've saving that for when I think I have earned it.
So whats next on the cards for your Hive Fleet, or are you devoting all your time to those great Adeptus mechanicus conversions?
