Erm, Because it is a poll that asks:

How much of your army (s) are 2nd hand or off eBay?

I buy almost exclusively from eBay (with a few other online stores where applicable, for example I get a lot of my D Wars stuff from Maelstrom). But we Australians get thoroughly screwed on GW prices so even buying at or above retail (inc shipping) from the USA or UK is a hell of a good deal compared to our retail prices.

I don't buy whole armies on ebay, I tend to just buy OOP items or bits.

Buying whole armies, while cheap, comes with problems that I see. One being a lack of bits, two being models assembled wrong, three being models painted poorly or primed with the wrong primer, ect ect.

I tend to just buy stuff from my FLGS. 10% off everything, always is pretty damn good.

Right? Your army(s) can only be one fraction of purchase from eBay.

I think that buying large lots is one of the only ways to get a decent price on eBay. Of course, you'll probably be competing with resellers in that case, which can drive the price up.

I'm generally surprised that so many people are willing to buy used lots on eBay -- and absorb all the risks that carries -- at only a modest discount when there are retailers that sell new at 20% or more off.

Maybe it's a hit-or-miss thing, and I'm not on eBay enough to find the great deals. I've occasionally purchased Genestealer Hybrids at reasonable prices on eBay. Then again, there are people there trying to sell individual Hybrids at $15+ apiece and nonsense like that.

Right. I get that. But you could pick two different choices and hit submit.

So I could say my army is 0-10% and 85-100% composed of ebay pieces. That doesn't make any sense.

One army is less than or equal to 10% from ebay, the other is close to 100%.

That's confusing?

No, if that is what he is looking for. I guess then that the poll was unclear to me.

Yes, because it's a half finished equation. In that case, your answer would be ~50%. Allowing multiple choices completely destroys the entire purpose of the poll, which is to collect information about the rate at which people buy from eBay.

Just do 1 percentage for each army then rather than a mean average

We're getting way off topic, and you probably don't really care, but I'm going to type this out anyway lol.

The purpose of the poll is to collect information about what percentage of peoples models come from eBay.

Now, lets say I have three armies. One has no eBay models, one has 80% eBay models and one is 100% eBay models.

So I vote for 0%, 80% and 100%.

This then gives the incorrect poll result that two out of three people get more than 80% of their models from eBay. The more people that take advantage of the multiple choice options, the more diluted and less accurate the poll will be.

"Did you ever notice how in the Bible, when ever God needed to punish someone, or make an example, or whenever God needed a killing, he sent an angel? Did you ever wonder what a creature like that must be like? A whole existence spent praising your God, but always with one wing dipped in blood. Would you ever really want to see an angel?"

Unless the poll is less interested in PEOPLE as a metric and more interested in ARMIES. This would not dilute the poll, but rather give a better idea of how many armies are majority secondhand.

Let's make a poll about if we want to know about PEOPLE or ARMIES and then make the real poll, then.

But make the real poll broken down in 5% increments. I like increments.

Except that obviously the intent of the poll is too vague since a lot of people think it is focused on people and not armies.
