To be fair, not only Japanese people could find the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki upsetting. Let's not get into the ethics of it (really, let's not), but the effect it had on real people was genuinely horrible. I think it makes sense to steer clear of things that have killed people in real life, beyond guns and stabbing. Hence why virus bombs aren't anthrax bombs, and that
IG tank (Bane Wolf?) doesn't shoot mustard gas, and so forth. It could be an upsetting break from fantasy into real life horrors.
