Hmm I thought there was a minimum of 6" on that, not sure where I got that from.

But anyway, if you do not have any long ranged guns, then that is your choice.

One LRBT can kill it, as can anything with a Lascannon on an AA mount, or a Rifleman dread.

Since Apocalypse has flyers other than the Stormraven it seems like you may need to rethink your strategy a bit. Also I have used a SR in Apoc with some friends and they made it a priority to take it down so it didn't last long. It is not as OP as it seems especially in a game with D weapons, Structure Points and gargantuan creatures.

It is really not all that powerful, and it is not "imperveous to harm" it is only Armor 12.

Also Apocalypse has crazier units than a flying stormraven, which is not all that powerful to tell you the truth. a TL Lascannon and a TL Multimelta are hardly OP for one vehicle.

Meltaguns can kill it, it is only AV 12.

Anything shooting at it has its range reduced by 12", meaning meltaguns can't hit it.

Kill it when it switches to Hover mode to disembark it's passenger. It's a Skimmer at that point.

I don't have D weapons, anything with structure points, or gargantuan creatures. The only apoc things in the entire game are a titan and the Storm Raven as a flyer, something I wasn't even aware of until after we'd deployed (but before game had started), I came home and checked my rulebook to discover that it could only be hit on 6s, immune to meltas, etc.
I think it's a case of TFG to be fair.

Pintle-mounted weapons get the AA rule. I don't know if that helps or not as I don't know what IG can take that's pintle-mounted.

I'd like to offer encouragement, but I've used flyers in Apoc and they can be pretty devastating.

Almost every IG tank can take a pintle-mounted storm bolter or heavy stubber. It might be all of them, too lazy to look up.

An invulnerable vehicle running around with TL-Lascannons and Plasma cannons? Yeah pretty much.
This is an ongoing battle. I can't go back in time and take a gak load of hydras.

If one vehicle with one TL Lascannon and one TL Plasma Cannon is ruining your day when playing apoc, then something is wrong.

Apoc is just for fun. Ignore the SR and kill the other stuff.

So you brought only Str 5 and lower non-blast weapons, or only Blast weapons to an Apoc game and you are mad because you are limited in how you can hurt 1 vehcile.

The storm raven is easy to kill in a regular game, and moderately hard to kill in APOC if it always stays in Flyer Mode. But no more harder than Landraiders at range.

Well I've never come across a unit that was immune to meltaguns so it's never really been an issue.

Not rolling the extra D6 != immune to melta guns. The Avatar is immune to meltaguns, the SR is not so bothered by them as other vehicles

You're also using the old rules DR, for the LR Achilles

Hunter Killer missiles are nice for taking out fliers. Our group considers them pintle, but even if you need 6's to hit, take enough and you'll get it.
