It was £48 and it could have been worse, I bought it then they sold it for £24 a month or so later!

Well, then I would have balked a bit harder.

Call me old school. I can do without all the fluff and pictures that people use to bulk out wargame rulebooks and justify higher prices.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

But it's sooo shiney!

To be fair it's not too fluffy, there are about 5 full page decriptors and graphics of Joe Average soldier but there's not too many wasted pages. They will more than likely try to shift the remainder at half price again I would guess. Well worth it at that price.

On a god note, Osprey is into wargaming.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

Osprey does fields of war which personally is not my favorite but to each their own. Their are not a lot of good historical tourney sets out there so this really sucks. I did ask hank if adepticon will hold their wab evet next year and he said as long as theirs a demand.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Ya I am going to agree that this was in some poor taste but I can't blame you for the self promotion. Personally Class of Empires is eh for my tastes, honestly if I was going to find a new system I would just go with Saga I think as I play black powder (No thanks to you Dave Taylor!!!!) and I enjoy the warlord lines for the later ages feel but in regards to tourney play they don't work out as well due in part to you are more telling a story and you much be concise with your wording otherwise you will down right lose. Great game to play with friends though black powder is, and no one is really an ex-wabite as their will still be tons of tourneys for it and game nights with friends as it's a great balanced rules set and I for one am stocked up on a lot of their books but more importantly the WAB 2.0 and the AoA 2 so really you don't need anything more then that. AoA2 is honestly amazing as not a single page is "fluff"; all rules and army lists!

Personally as said had they put the IP rights out there I know they would have sold fast as I know several people with the money to spend on them more out of the love of the system, then the ability to make profit from it.

DIDM said he didn't want to post links to other websites, but would give us clues. He said it was the name of a US president that had been shot and killed (leaving very few options) Cy tried these names with the word books after it (as per DIDM's little quest)... Then he gave us the extra clue of "Honest ____" (meaning Abebooks). I checked that website and provided the link...

If you find a show FW are attending they are clearing their remaining stock at their stalls if Salute is anything to go by.

They had large stacks of all of their rule books except legends of the old west.

Not really. Dark Heresy was a runaway success, and GW's immediate response was to shut down the company that wrote it. Some days GW decides that they don't like money, and they do dumb things. There's no pattern or logic to it.

At least we had FFG pick up what GW let it die there. Beats having to buy Dark Heresy from Ebay for 200+ bucks as many of those hopeless thieving witches had hoped.

But yeah, this is GW being GW, killing all its subdivisions, one at a time. Some get absorbed, not that it did them any good, poor old Specialist Games.

The tragedy being that it would only take a modicum of effort to make these sub-divisions successful, but they just don't. GW's approach is always a case of seeing if they can get by without having to do anything. Explains why so much of their income is from licensing.

Licensing is the easy money with the big names these days, which is a perfectly good explanation as to why GW is so pants these days. Why bother with effort? The brand is the money now!

This goes for the entire publication industry. I got the hardcover of A Dance With Dragons the day it came out and later bought the digital copy for my wife on her iPad. Nearly the same price. So indeed.

That would be so nice. As was already stated though, the primary share holder(s) must first offer enough of their shares for sale before you can shake anyone loose. If it were possible though I would seriously get behind a DakkaDakka fund for a major purchase of GW stock.

That's because digital distributors and hardware producers had signed an illegal agreement to set prices(Apple and others were setting prices and forcing Amazon and others to follow suit).

Expect that to change over the next few months as the DoJ just successfully sued Apple and 5 other companies over it.
