now being that allies are coming into play in 6th, do you have any plans for adding some IG to your DA, or no?

I dunno how keen I am on the whole allies thing. I'm going to reserve judgment until 6th comes out and see what the actual rules are, because all the rumors about it right now are just getting stupid.

But, as of right now, not planning on anything like that... though I do have a crapload of Vostroyans in a box in my closet.

understandible, as a modeler first, then a guardsmen close second, im just happy to buy some non IG model that I can actually use!

Even if you don't plan on chopping them up like I am, you could easily swap out arms on 'em without too much hassle and dropping a helmeted head on them goes a long way to altering the overall feel of the model.

What a shame: Noble Vostroyans assigned garrison duty on a crappy planet like Closet. All there is to do is shoot dust bunnies...

There's more than dust bunnies for them to shoot at while stationed at Closet. Plenty of chaos marines and pointy-eared xenos have taken up residence there.

you do some good work although i say a Powersword and Storm Bolter...but thats mainly because my Dark Angels run with the whole Swords theme....

A wee update on my Angels. I've been busy with Khârn, but I haven't forgotten these guys.

I'm trying my hand at sculpting decorations on my termie rather than trying to press mold them. It's proving more difficult than I originally thought:




Slow and steady wins the race, right?

Decorations look good, we want more!

Catching up on some work I posted to another forum a while back, here's a chaplain idea underway, based on this guy:




The arms were in terrible shape with bad pockmarks and bubbles, and almost half of the left shoulder pad was just gone from a giant void or air bubble, so I'm in the process of getting a replacement from GW. In the meantime, I had an idea earlier and started chopping up the rest of the guy to salvage what I could:






I didn't want the head to be leaned over like that, and removing it was something of a PITA. Luckily, with my new tube making tool, I was able to replace the badly cast tubes on the sides of his face. The feet were removed from the lower legs and repositioned, and I decided to do way with the thighs because they were also badly pockmarked. I'm not sure what I'm going to do about the arms yet, but the general idea I have for this Chaplain is something reminiscent of the Grim Reaper. He'll have a hooded robe, maybe tattered and blowing in the wind.

A little more progress:




Even though you won't see the thighs if this goes remotely how I have planned, I always want to make sure the underlying anatomy is correct, which is why the shape is just roughed in and not completely smoothed out. For the arms, I'm now thinking maybe he'll be holding an open book in his left hand and pointing his Crozius with his right.

Next up will be filling in the holes where the feet are attached, and patching up even more bad spots I've found in the cast. :(

More recently, a librarian conversion challenge on B&C got me motivated to finish up a figure I started working on in October of '11 for my then Imperial Fists army. Here's the rough mock up:



Back then, I was drooling over the Sevrin Loth figure but really didn't have the funds for it, though I did have some FW Red Scorp bits I picked up from eBay at an amazingly low price, and thought I'd try for my own version of him. Not long after I posted this WIP pic, I seemed to lose interest in the Fists and this guy went into my box of half-formed WIP figures. I spent a lot of time on the pose and trying out LOTS of different arms and was really happy with the simple but evocative feel to it.

So then I see the conversion thread and decide it's time to finish this guy up. In the time since, my interest had shifted from Imperial Fists to the Dark Angels successor chapter, Angels of Vengeance, as you probably know by now from this thread, so some changes had to be made for a more knightly feel. Introducing Epistolary Oberin.






I didn't think to to get any in-progress pics, but the only real conversion parts to this guy was making his torso taller with a greenstuff spacer between the chest and leg pieces, sculpting the half-robe thing that the Librarians favor, adding the power cabling over the left shoulder, and sculpting the horn on the chest skull and the mesh in the shoulder and wrist joint. I also shaved the camera/sensor thing off of the left side of the helmet and added another power cable along that side.

Thanks, and glad you liked the libby! As always seems to be the case, some of the simplest conversions turn out to be the best, and I think this is one of my new favorites.

I'm not sure how often I might have updates, since I've recently decided to be done with 40k because of all the slimy BS that GW is doing with 6th edition, and also with my inability to ever get an army done. I still love building and converting figures though, so I'm considering doing a small display army which would give me the freedom to gear them however I wanted and making everything codex compatible be damned.

As for a blog, no, I don't have one but maybe I should.
