That is an inefficient list.

If you're going for IoN, it would make more sense to have 2 units of Skeletons, so that each IoN rewards you with twice as many new skeletons as your current list does, as the IoN would affect both units assuming they are both within 6" of the Necro.

To be honest, though, whilst it seems efficient to use IoN at that points level as each new model is a greater percentage of the original army points value than in a larger list, it's no good having a great anvil if you have a rubber hammer.

I would personally go for wight king on barded steed running with 5 black knights with standard and musician, a spirit host, then that leaves 125 for your choice of core, almost certainly 21 Skeletons with musician and banner.

Wight King could not be General as they cannot know lore of Vampire.

Agree with that as well. Best idea is to go with two units of skeletons like you suggested, and get a unit of black knights (if points allow) and put a Necromancer to lead that with master of the dead. You raise your skeleton units greater numbers, and use your black knights to deal with out riders (and small units) or make a flanking charge, to protect the unit with the Necromancer in it or in dire need to kill a enemy unit.

Or take a unit of Zombies and a unit of skeletons and the Black knights. Thus you still have two units taking advantage of Invocation and one grows large quickly (zombie bunker) the other grows steadily to be difficult (skeletons) I say this because you cannot really get two decent units of skeletons + Black knights at 500 but you can get 25 skeletons and 20 zombies + black knights for 500.

In that case, this is what things are looking like now:
1x Necromancer - Master of the dead, level 2 wizard 120p

20x skeleton warriors - champion, stantard, musician, the screaming banner 155p

20x zombies - standard, musician 80p

5x black knights - hell knight, standard, musician, 5x lances 145p
500 total

You'll want barding on the Black Knights.

They get a +1 to their armor save. So that means they have a 2+ save, and in a small unit, they can last longer.

How come? You just lower the skeletons some to make the points (master of the dead will work its magic for them).
