Have you put your name into an employment service? They're usually pretty good at getting people jobs. Then you call them and tell them each week what days you are available, and which ones you are not. They will send you on jobs that will sometimes be a single day, or a week. And the work will be diverse and interesting.
When I was younger I did this, worked at Sony Disc Manufacturing, a Microsoft packaging plant, a medical machinery place assembling cables, 2 different print shops, a cannery, a dairy place, and one of the best, a place that made ice cream right as they were working out a deal with a Japanese company to make blueberry ice cream. The Manager who came over from Japan with his team kept saying "not enough blue berries yet." for several runs, so all the first couple runs were given away to employees. We had months worth of free ice cream.
I don't think I was ever paid less than $10 an hour, and back then minimum wage was about $5
Right here is what I'm talking about.

500 quid for 4 months is a little lame, but if you're fed and housed, it's not that bad. University regularly required less than that for me.

Ask around restaurants to see if they need help washing dishes. It's easy, mindless work and most places will hire you on the spot, no application needed.

I have friends that have done this, and its not a bad gig. To me it seems like the only way I could actually do that type of menial work.

The temp agencies also hire for office type work too. I was only offered those type jobs a couple times, boring stuff.

I'd consider that type of work menial as well. My mom got me a job at her company in document services shortly after graduation, basically just scanning old files into the computer as part of their attempt to go paperless. After about a week I missed my warehouse job from way back in the day, and after 3 weeks they fired me because I basically just stopped working. It was literally the worst job I've ever had.

I have two options.
1. Lemonade stand
Be your own boss, and an entreprenuer! Work the hours you want to work! Raid your parents house for what you need, so you have them finacning your overhead costs! Remember, location, location, location!
2. Whore yourself out to middle-aged, lonely housewives.
Again, you set the schedule! They can only see you during the weekdays, so your nights and weekends are free! Learn to be an entreprenuer!
