Oh, it's not. Just kinda the origin of Warhammer as far as I know.
Point is that Warhammer 40k is about as sexual as a PG 13 movie.
"The Imperium is nothing if not willing to go to any lengths necessary. So the Trekkies are zipping around at warp speed taking small chucks out of an nigh-on infinite amount of ships, with the Imperium being unable to strike back. feth it, says central command, and detonates every vortex warhead in the fleet, plunging the entire sector into the Warp. Judging by the horrifying spawn of the Emperor's Children either Slaanesh can give Space Marines fertility or they're fertile.
Change and change until Change is our master, for nothing neither God nor mortal can hold that which has no form. Change is the constant that cannot be changed.

Well, given that they are basically monks in power armor, I'd say they wouldn't even attempt such a sinful thing until they turn to Chaos. Slaaneshi Marines would probably find some deamonette big enough (or just another marine) if size is an issue.

Talking about sexual matters more often than not is in bad taste.

Considering you're saying that it's this thread that's in bad taste talking about other threads probably doesn't help that much... Looking through the thread I see no evidence of poor taste at all...

If, after all the genetic and surgical modification, marines still have the requisite equipment, who says it has to have been enhanced along with the rest of the body? All marines satarted out as standard humans after all. More likely its been replaced with some kind of easy-clean plug to interface with power armour recycling interfaces.
Testosterone may still be required, but Marines are so chock full of engineered glands that the testes also may no longer be required.
Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!
We have people reaching Marine height these days, although not usually quite as bulky. There's precious few complaining that they can't find a mate due to oversized equipment. Besides that man junk varies in size anyway - the tallest guy you know could well have the smallest, or at least something pretty much average.
I'd really be more worried about the Marine's combat training, hypno-therapy and killer reflexes. Being out of armor and getting touched must be pretty unfamiliar after ten years or so of becoming a Marine. Who's to say he won't react with lethal force at any move his highly wired brain can't immediately recognize as safe?
AegisGrimm wrote:I thought the common height was 7-71/2 feet?

Because lately for some reason people have been thinking marines are something like 9-10 feet tall.
As for finding a woman to be the right match for a marine, I have a good image for all of you, with one word.

I thought they took drugs / pills as part of their training that suppressed sexual desire. Not that doesn't make them infertile, it just makes them less... willing (on top of their brainwashing).

They are. The Black Library is the guilty party as far as the slow size creep of the Space Marines. Some authors take a bit of creative license because making them bigger can make them seem a bit more grandiose in description. But the standard has always been around seven and a half feet tall, and if I am not mistaken, that's how tall the Space Marine is that's displayed at Warhammer World no? I've never been there, but the picture gets posted often enough.
That said, and I hate myself for even clicking on this thread, let alone participating, why do people seem to think that at seven and a half feet tall they'd be endowed with something capable of killing, or severely injuring a woman? Haven't watched too much porn have you guys? And I can't remember too many news stories about NBA players accidentally killing a groupie, lol. The Space Marines have been engineered pretty specifically. They're purpose built, you could say. I doubt the Emperor was too interested in making them competitors with your common mule. However, there have been a few depictions in the fluff of humans encountering Space Marines in various states of undress and not being shocked or horrified by their total emasculation, so I think it's probably relatively safe to assume they haven't been castrated in any physical way.
Let's be realistic, if you're not subjected to any kind of sexual stimulation, the drive is pretty easily suppressed. People talk about saltpeter in food in boot camp (which is a total myth consider saltpeter in any significant dosages is poisonous, lol), however it's just constant stress and activity that suppresses those urges much of the time. I'd imagine Marines have just been indoctrinated and conditioned so heavily that it just isn't something that comes to mind with them. They've been completely sheltered from that aspect of humanity since childhood. With the right kind of mental conditioning, it would be easily to suppress the relatively weak human instincts.
But like it's been said many times before, the reason why there's very little fluff about Space Marines, romance, and sex, is that it's a wargame. And the books/fluff are being written to sell more toy plastic soldiers. If you want to envision your Space Marines as being conquerors both martially and sexually, you're not really wrong, because nothing has ever been said about it either way, though some books have had Marines being apathetic or unaware of how to judge beauty and such in women.
Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

Jes Goodwin joked on the GW podcast that Marines get bigger with every novel.
On the same podcast he also confirmed the 7 to 7 1/2 ... here's a lifesize drawing he did for GW's Inquisitor RPG (note that for some reason his scale starts at 1 instead of 0, though - something he admitted fething up on the podcast, too).

I remember quite an interesting idea in the old Black Library (spring 96) magazine which might be relevant to this discussion, Not sure it fits with the new fluff completely but see what you think
"Unimaginably ancient xenos artefact somewhere on the planet, hive fleet poised above our heads, hidden 'stealer broods making an early start....and now a bloody Chaos cult crawling out of the woodwork just in case we were bored. Welcome to my world, Ciaphas."

My bad about the 8-10 ft thing. Maybe thats the size they are inside armor when you include boots, hat, etc. But I know I've read those numbers from someplace.

On the drawing, the Marine's head hits 7 feet in armour. His legs are a bit apart, so I reckon you might add a few inches when he stands straight.
It's nothing to apologize for, the 8-10 feet seem to be a fairly popular interpretation, and like Veteran Sergeant pointed out there have been a number of novels where the writers have made them a little bigger for (supposedly) added coolness. I heard Abnett does this fairly often? I'm no expert on Marine novels, so someone else would have to provide examples.
It's not even "wrong" as there is no enforced canon, just something to be aware of I guess. The Marines' size changes depending on what book you're reading, almost as much as their vulnerability and general combat effectiveness does.

Considering that Emperor's Children are flying rodent gak insane and the most depraved creatures in the universe, I don't think they'd care if they were smaller than a normal human or if they were actually a Keeper of Secrets.
Anyway, this thread is probably going towards a big shiny padlock.

Not necessarily. The half-breed from RT was removed, but GW has never gone squat on the matter. And there are supposed to be lots of half-breeds in Commoragh, either produced by broken Human and Eldar slaves seeking companionship/comfort, or by other, more distasteful, means.

The Emperor didn't seem to have a problem. The Sensei never went squat, simply unmentioned.

My opinion:
The SM's (or GK's?) Have just finished fighting with the populace of heretics and are on a ship that will take ages to go to where they need to. The SoB are also on the ship, bored out of their minds. What to they do? But what I'm wondering is this. What about the Dreadnoughts? I feel so sorry for them, just sitting there doing nothing, pondering on what their going to do to the enemy. I could just imagine a Dreadnought hugging a Marine, only to accidently crush him or accidently light the person on fire...

Given the temperment of your average sister of battle or space marine they would likely be praying and planning so that they'll be ready when it is time to kill and burn again.
Spoiler:
That is pretty much everything a marine and to roughly the same extent, a sister of battle is required to do.

Not to mention that many Marine Chapters and all Sororitas Orders practice some sort of isolation. They don't just "mingle" with other folks for the concept of "fun". These people just aren't normal folks, so they don't follow such behavioral patterns but rather their own.

Manly Space Marines must do manly things, apparently.
Me, I'm participating because I find it entertaining to provide counter-arguments. I'm also biased in that I have a more grimdark, more down-to-earth image of the Astartes, though. In the end, it's all about clashing interpretations. As Gav Thorpe said, none can be wrong, but it can be interesting to talk about people's opinions .. or theorize where they come from.
