Hi Shawn,
I notice that Australia isn't listed as a country that's eligible for the Rack Pack. Which seems ...odd as Adam is located in Adelaide, and prices are in Australian Dollars. Even New Zealand gets a guernsey.

http://www.back2base-ix.com/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=338

Can you see what the deal is there perhaps?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Actually, the price breakdown for the components if bought individually comes to about AU$180. But the "free shipping" rack pack "deal" for the same items is AU$220? So it's basically $40 included for shipping, right?

Scipio: I asked the same question. The bundle deal only is really for the overseas market, us Aussie's can still get the discount code that Shawn provides with a PM.

I will be ordering as soon as I have saved up for this (wife has put me on a $50 a month allowance to save for a US Trip!! :() but even with shipping it's better to just buy this in parts.

A center piece to your hobby desk, the workstation has always been an integral part to any hobbyists surroundings. To be introduced shortly, the 'Grab & Go' range of workstations to help make your hobby life easier.

Here's a photo of the Middy, the middle sized station from the 'Grab & Go' range. This unit comes with an A4 Cutting mat as well as a white acrylic palette insert which can be exchanged as needed, whether you're painting or modelling, there's no need to change seats.

You will also notice 4 elements in place around the station, two just in front of the work space, two situated up on the shelf. All magnetized, they can be easily removed, swapped around, or exchanged for other elements that are soon to be released following the initial. Included are:

- A paint rack, with rinse cup
- A brush/tool holder, accommodating many sizes and shapes.
- A hobby round rack, complete with empty jars, to have quick access to your Rocks 'n' Flocks range while scenery or base building.
- And lastly the RAF (Rank And File) element, 20 magnetized pillars to fix your latest unit of models into position for easy grab and paint/sculpt/model.

Keep your eyes peeled for this release, along with many other supported 'Grab & Go' elements!!!!

We hope you're as excited as we are about this

Hi Shawn,

My desk doesnt actually have room for that backing bit due to pre-existing shelves. So are some of these things going to be released seperately? that Rank & File bit looks very handy to have, period.

So many games, so little time.

So many models, even less time.

Screw it, Netflix and chill.

Nothing arrived just yet (but expecting it today/tomorrow), but nice to hear that will be in acrylic, will 100% get one of them.

Well my parts have arrived today, got a message from the wife to say the box is waiting at home!

I ended up getting a large paint rack, inside corner, bits rack and tool rack.

I'll put them together tonight (perhaps I'll do an assembly build log?) and review over the next few days.

Wishing that workstation had been a little sooner lol - the Bits rack and Tool rack I just purchased are already obsolete!!!!

Ok, so far I've only done the Bitz rack.

The flat packed arrivals!

I thought I'd put together the base before taking the protective sheeting off:

However once I went to take the stuff off I found it to be much harder to peel than I had expected. Also, the bolts and nuts got in the way, so sigh, my own fault I had to pull it apart and go through all the pieces to remove the sheeting before assembly.

I then finished putting it all together. The instructions were fine, watched the DVD and paused in bits as I went along. Once you have put together some of these though I can see me not needing the instructions, it's pretty self explanatory.

As for the usability of these. I found one major flaw so far. You can't actually load up all 5 jars, only 4 will fit per draw, due to the bolt for the handle being too long.

In the DVD, the thread and length of the bolts appears to be slightly shorter. Or at least perhaps there is a short bolt in the kit, but the DVD makes no mention of finding a specific bolt.

I eyeballed all the various bolts after discovering this (putting the drawers together is one of the last steps) but they all look the same size and were all together in the same bag. So I don't think I was supposed to mystically find two shorter bolts in the pile.

So for now, I'm just using 4 jars per draw instead of 5. I guess I'll have to dig out my hacksaw and see if I can shorten the bolt manually in order to fit the jars.

I will probably also email Back2Base and ask them to confirm if this is correct, or if there were actually 2 shorter bolts in the bag and I was supposed to find them and not use them during assembly.

However, other than this issue everything is good quality and easy to put together. I'm looking forward to getting the rest made up now, I'm thinking I'll do the large paint rank next.

Thanks Surloch,

My 2 parts of the Rack arrived today and hoping to put it together tonight. Also got black (why would you get something else!)

Interesting on the tubs not fitting, wasn't planning on getting that (as they are shorter than the other sections) but if that's the case might hold out for the moment on them.

I got hold of Back2Base, and they have let me know that other Bitz racks have been shipped out recently without the issue, so I think I just got unlucky (no surprise there lol).

It was a simple fix though, I just cut a few threads off the end of the bolts and filed it smooth down to the nut to fix the issue.

They did offer to send me out new bolts, but for such a simple solution I told them not to worry about it. So I was very happy with the service and communication from them.

I've almost got the Large paint rack put together - egads there is not enough time in the day to paint and put things together though.

God I wish I could afford one of these, black and orange would look awesome, I'd be more organized, the wife'd be happy that I was making an effort to be tidy. Sadly too expensive though. Ah well.

Thanks again for the update.

And glad to hear the comms were good, to be honest, never really had a need for comms as everything has gone smoothly.

Ok, well I put together the large paint rack tonight.

First thing is to get all of your bolts and washers etc looking like this:

It will save heaps of time during assembly. Also take off all the protective sheeting.

The design is actually very intelligent in its simplicity. No parts could go in the wrong place, all the ledges were cut so that only one particular shelf would fit in each section. So there is really no way to stuff this up. Nothing had to be forced and it all went together perfectly.

After finishing tightening up all the bolts and making sure it was sturdy I put it to use.

My wife commented on it, thought it looks really good and is much tidier. I'm very happy with the purchase.

I've started putting the tool rack together next to continue with cleaning up the desk!

Finally found time to finish the tool rack, it actually only took around 30 minutes to put together.

All the parts for the acrylic version with drawer.

Put together and ready to go.

A few brushes and tools slotted in. I'm going to have to try a few different ways of arranging things but so far it looks like there will be plenty of room for all my kit. So far so good, I really only have the 90 degree corner to go which will finish off everything I purchased so far.

I've overall been impressed with the rack products, I'll probably at least try their movement trays after this experience.

Thanks Surloch,
I built mine the other day... they went together quickly.

2 note for everyone else:

The acrylic smells terrible when you take it out of the package (this is normal as it was laser cut) and it took about 2 days for mine to come back to normal.

The assembly is really fast, but the time consuming part for me was removing the paper from the acrylic that protects it in shipping.

I wont be getting more in the near future (As my desk is well... um... I'm sure there is a desk in there somewhere!) but when I clean up another 4 sets might be on the cards.

I finally finished the last piece, which was a 90 degree corner paint rack.

I must say, putting these together over such a long time was no reflection on the product and rather my limited time available - they all went together quickly and easily.

This last one I didn't bother watching the video, just put it together based off my past experience.

The finished products on my desk:

I'm very happy with it! Looks good and does the job well. My cat loves them too, she jumps up on the couch and rubs her head against them all the time lol.

Looking good.
Mine are actually made as well... but sadly the table to put them on... is... well... I'm sure it's still there!

That looks golden!

I wish there were some more bundles with free shipping. A straight paint rack I don't need, but a few other things I do. Also, shipping is very prohibitive. I was about to order till I saw the total price with shipping.
