They may have been contemplating that change for long, since already 4th Edition books have such special weapons (Farsight, Yriel). Or that might be just a coincidence.

They ignore armor saves and if a model suffers an unsaved wound they must take a LD test or suffer ID. if there are 2 sets of Boneswords the test is taken on 3D6.

Like all Tyranid melee options, they stack with each other. But no bonus for multiple CCWs is given.

Tyranid Boneswords have no AP to speak of. They arn't even AP-, they simply have no AP value(AP- is still an AP value)

Yes, but the big question is then what are you rolling for vehicle damage. The reason why I ask this is because AP1 gets +2, AP2 gets +1, AP3-6 gets no modifier and AP- gets -1 on the damage chart. SO people are asking what they roll on the chart.

Boneswords are never referred to as power weapons in the codex, as has been stated they simply ignore armor. Same with the pyrovore. Yes, this makes them very deadly against 2+ armor. Yes, they are also expensive as hell (or just bad in the case of the pyrovore). They're also good for Tyrants simply because of the lashwhip that comes with them, and the ID associated with it.

I'm still trying to consider the place of Tyranid warriors with them in the new edition... on one hand they have a chance to do really well when combined with the new pile in and lash whips... but I can't fathom any opponent in their right mind letting them get anywhere close to their lines at full strength, either as warriors or shrikes. In fact, overall the unit got a touch more fragile, since we can't simply allocate s8+ shots to a prime in the unit to ignore ID, further placing the upgrade in the "nice but..." category that so many tyranid options are. With the expanded FOC at 2k+, I can see them more likely to be included as point values grow larger, since Tyranids need to be less economical about their choices and can start looking at the fun stuff.

Edit: I need to check the pyrovore's entry, but I'm pretty sure it's still not listed as power weapons.

If you want to give it an AP, treat as AP0. Still low enough to ignore all armour saves and yet still no modifier

Guess thats the best we can do from our side, but I really do think GW should have saw to this. It should either be in the Rulebook or the FAQ. The reason why I'm saying this is because some people will arguing a case for no modifier while others will be saying it should be AP- and thus -1 on the damage table.

AP- no longer gives a penalty when rolling on the vehicle damage table, so the point is moot.

No it doesn't.

There's no mod on the chart. You ignore armor saves. It's seriously not hard to figure out.

The only things that get bonuses on the chart is Open Topped, AP2, and AP1. Thats it, nothing else, ziltch, nada...

If you take advantage of the "Look Out Sir" rule you can in fact still allocate S8+ shots to the prime, if your willing to take the 2+ LOS roll (because prime is an Independent Character) to have the S8 shots hit the prime and stay there as to keep your T4 models alive, but this could end up with the prime taking additional wounds if LOS is failed.

I guess you need to ask yourself something, Are you Feeling Lucky? ....Huh, Punk?

With masses vehicles falling into disfavour due to hull points, we might see a significant reduction in S8+ one shot weapons like missile launchers and lascannons in favor of S6-7 multishot/blast weapons like plasma and autocannons. If we do, 3 wound Warriors with a regen Prime to catch the odd high strength attack might be at least semi viable.

With the addition of flak to missile launchers i really don't see them disappearing.
