Is it just me, or are boneswords missing from the weapons overview in the back of the new rulebook?

They're not weapons, they're biomorphs.

For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.

So are fleshborers and spinefists, and they are in the book.

Niether are Biomorphs. Even looking in the codex they are listed under Weapons.

That was my point...

The problem is that Tyranid CC weapons are weapons but they don't actually have a weapon profile but instead just grant special bonuses. I.e, scything talons grant re-roll's of 1's but are never given stats of any sort. That's probably why they were omitted from the rulebook.

Yes they're missing.
So refer to the codex.

Actually boneswords are unusual power weapons, as such they follow both the rules for a power swords and the rules they have in the codex.
In short a boneswords are AP3 (Rulebook) and armor saves cannot be taken against wounds caused by them, they also causes LD tests of instant death (Codex Tyranids).

No, they aren't unusual power weapons. They aren't power weapons at all.

They discovered that they mistakenly gave tyranids an easy way to deal with terminators so they are working on fixing that. I believe the Tyranid Prime is also missing from nid units in the new book. Cruddace accidently made him useful so he is working on correcting that.

So are we assuming they are AP- until further notice? Or will they still ignore armour saves?

If AP- still does -1 against vehicles, then no. If that is the case, assume that is AP 2 against non vehicles and AP 3-6 against vehicles.

They are AP - and ignore armor saves.

Why assume it has an AP vaule at all? Just follow the rules in the codex for it. No armor saves can be taken against bone swords and it is just a basic CC weapon against anything that does not have armor saves.

That was my concern. Everything else is in the BTB, even lightning claws. I understand why scything talons weren't in there, they just reinforce CC weapons with an additional rule. And no rending claws?

Thing is not every weapon has gotten an update.

Generally if it is something with "No Armour Saves" It has gotten a FAQ or not.

Drahzen and Lilith for example, have No Armour Save weapons, thus they count as AP - (for purposes of vehicles) and ignore armor saves.

Warscythes were no armour saves, but they were instead changed to be given an AP 1

Geeze, how hard is it to see that Boneswords are EXACTLY WHAT THE CODEX SAYS THEY ARE!

They ignore armor saves and if a model suffers an unsaved wound they must take a LD test or suffer ID. if there are 2 sets of Boneswords the test is taken on 3D6.

Like all Tyranid melee options, they stack with each other. But no bonus for multiple CCWs is given.

Tyranid Boneswords have no AP to speak of. They arn't even AP-, they simply have no AP value(AP- is still an AP value)

The FAQ for Tyranids doesn't say otherwise, so they still just ignore armor saves like in 5th. In other words, they're good choices for your Warriors and Tyrants!

Not so much for tyrants. They still rock, especial as they get a Lash Whip with it, but seeing as MCs are AP 2 anyway it doesn't matter.

Tyrants are probably best with Wings and either dual Scything Talons or Scything Talons and some sort of shooting weapon.

Personally I would say Armoured Shell is now viable too, with his high CC output, challenges, and AP3 power weapons. Sure a 24" move is good but what happens if he is shot down? He walks it and gets munched by PW.

Point out where in the Tyranid codex refers to bones swords as power weapons, and I'll accept them being unusual power weapons. Until then, they ignore all armor.

It is true, they only bypass armour saves.

It's very sPecific wording, if you believe early 6th rumours, that since codex Tyranids books have been written with 6th in mind. It's reasonable to assume that bone swords were worded that way to get around the new power weapon rules. IIRC the Pyrovore is listed as having a power weapon due to its acid maw, which would be an unusual power weapon.

The pyrovore acid maw is not listed anywhere as a power weapon.

Yeah, doesn't it just have Poisoned(4+) attacks?

That would be Toxin Sacs. Acid Maw only ignores armour saves.

Quite positive it's on the Pyrovores bestiary page, not the list entry. I'll check when I get home though. Or is that stated as ignores at our as well?

Either way, if a weapon is listed as ignores armor but is not outright classed as a power weapon, then it's not a power weapon of any kind in 6th unless FAQd. It follows it's existing rules.
