Agreed ^
Imperial Fists and the Ravenguard are basically the best examples as they have way cooler color schemes and also have fought at the Imperial Palace and also kicked alot of arse.

Raven Guard!
The only smart loyalists. I'd really like to see a codex or at least some sort of veteran scout unit honoring them. Shrike doesn't really do them justice.
I do like the Blood Ravens as I have a place in my heart and empty eye socket for them.

Black Templar. For being one of if not the most loyal to the emperor chapters out there, they've been doing it wrong since inception. By that I mean the emperor did not want people to act like they do regarding him.
Might explain why they're just so gosh darn upset all the time.

Salamanders.
While other chapters are too busy replacing various limbs with bionics, protecting some dark and terrible secret, trying not to bite each others necks or whatever else the big chapters do, Salamanders simply act like the heroes they're meant to be. They don't fight for the imperium, they fight to protect the people of the imperium.

It was a hard choice for me between Imperial Fists and Blood Angels, but I picked Imperial Fists because I liked their Legion and all their successor chapters a lot more. Crimson Fists and Black Templars in particulare are badass.
I'm surprised so many people picked Dark Angels, as I hardly consider them loyalist in the first place. Half the Legion going Traitor during the Heresy, bailing out of fights to chase the Fallen Angels, hiding the secrets of their chapter's history from the Inquisition; there is very little that is 'loyalist' about them. No disrespect intended for Dark Angels players, it's just my impression of them.

Dark Angels- Why because we are the inner circle.
honorable mentions
Ravenguard-Hard hitting lightning strikes=cool
Salamanders- They actually give rats ass.
Imperial Fists-they basically tell their enemies here we are come get us. Then they crush them.

What I find really funny is that SW are winning in the favorite thread, but came in second in the most hated thread.
Just goes to show, for everyone who hates the SW, there is someone else who loves them. I find that just to be another example of their awesomeness.

Zweischneid wrote:Ultramarine players would still play Ultramarines, even if GW had never introduced that idea of a "Codex Astartes". All other Marines players should be grateful for the creativity this fluff-trick allows. And yes, this also goes for the "non-Codex-chapters". Space Wolves wouldn't be so special-snowflake-rebellious if they didn't have anything to rebel against. They are just as defined in their character by the Codex Astartes precisely because their main-traits are exemplified through their opposition to it.
Back in 2nd edition, when the various space marines first got differentiating codices, the Space Wolf Codex was actually the first one to be released, in 1994. Ultramarines (the Codex was called that back then) was released a year later, so the SW weren't invented to differentiate from bog standard marines - those didn't exist yet.
The First Legion was the Dark Angels. Again, not the Ultramarines.
In any case, I voted for the Vikings in Space. Not because they go against the Codex Astartes, but because they, and pretty much they alone, have the stones to go their own way against the worst the whole GrimDarkness (or Dark Grimness) of the wartorn 41st MIllennium can throw at them.
No other faction in the Imperium can say the same thing.
(That's not to rib on other chapters - some of them are just as honourable (Salamanders) as stubborn (Dark Angels), as wild (White Scars) or as spoilin' for a fight (Templars).)
Edit: It's fitting that the Dark Angels are our closest rivals in this poll. As it should be.

Lamenters, but not for the reasons stated above.
Fell on the wrong side of the war just for honoring ancient pacts, went on to redeem themselves by single-handledly attempting to stop a Hive Fleet.
That's my idea of making up for one's past mistakes, not sweeping the problem under the carpet then kill anyone who mentions said carpet... Yes, I'm looking at you, Dark Angels...

Blood Ravens. They have some great fluff, with some nice twists such as the whole 1K Sons relationship. They also have well developed characters we have visual and audio for which really helps get into it. Being able to play them in solid video games is great.
Their fluff also opens up some good modelling opportunities. They're known for scavenging wargear and having a good relationship with Ad Mech so you can fancy them up well.
