Alright I just want to know what your favorite loyalist space marine chapter is fluffwise, this means the whole chapter. Mine has to be the Dark Angels, hunting treacherous brethren to hide their shame, even if it means gunning down troops that would normally be allies. Please say why whatever you chose has your favorite fluff.
Please remember that Black Templar are Imperial Fist successors.

You forgot so many chapters, Space Wolves, White Scars, etc.

And even though Black Templars are Imperial Fists successors, they have their own fluff, even their own codex. Crimson Fists deserve their own entry also.

Doh, forgot some first founding. Yes, they have their own fluff, but they are successors still, and If I listed every major second+founding chapter I would be listing all day. Just vote where the chapter belongs, and say why you favor them.

I like Crimson Fists, play Templars, and like Imperal Fists, so it was just a give me. I just got pulled to those Chapters, and not found anything that branched off from the Fists to not be of my liking.

Obviously Grey Knights, what with all the amazingly written fluff in their codex. Ha. Ha. Ha.

Jokes aside, I really and truly believe that there are some sweet stories hidden under the hilariously failed attempts at writing.

GK is my pick, take it or leave it.

Loved the old fluff, almost started warhammer with old GK, wish I had, the new GK look much lamer compared to the old ones.

Can't vote since they're not in the poll, but I am a fan of the Minotaurs Chapter. They were one of the Cursed Founding, so the source of their geneseed is classified.

Basically the personal army of the High Lords of Terra, often deployed against other Space Marine chapters. They eradicated an entire Ultramarine Successor Chapter who defied orders from the High Lords of Terra, and took all their relics, publicly insulted Marneus Calgar, and as result are not exactly on friendly terms with the Utlramarines.

In some of the Fantasy Flight Games material, it makes them out to hold most other Space Marine Chapters in contempt, and actively despise the normal citizenry of the Imperium.

They're practically Chaos Space Marines, except they're loyal to the Imperium (or at least, to the High Lords of Terra), and are the biggest donkey-caves among all the Space Marines.

I love 'em.

EDIT: Ironically, my second favorite chapter is the Salamanders, who are actually quite amiable to pretty much everyone within the Imperium, even (especially, in fact) normal civilians.

I went with SW because they are the only SM chapter that I have ever had an interest in.

I still believe that they are space vikings at heart and I love their attitudes towards their comrades in arms.

Ultramarines.

Space Marines = Ultramarines. Ultramarines = Space Marines.

It's the clean, sleek perfection of the concept in its purest forms.

All others clutter the concept with forced "Space Marines, but also Vikings", or "Space Marines, but also cursed" or whatever. It's like adding cheap rear spoilers and cheesy fire-airbrush to a classic muscle car. It just doesn't get better by piling on more stuff.

GK, DA, Red Corsairs. Why? One simple reason: They all have issues with the Space Wolves, and are pretty badass. I don't feel any further explanation is needed.

Space Marines, but with a roman heritege and governing a whole empire of their own within another empire, and everyone hates them and GW thinks their the bees' knees and they are so awesome because their Primarch made the rulebook for Space Marines, and they are suppossed to follow it even though they don't because their oldest member, also a Chaplain and Calgar's BFF thinks nids are like a cancer and needs destroyed. They also have many, many, many descendent chapters who love them to bits. The 1st chapter to be made out of a Legion and not named after the Legion, was the Genesis, which were decended from the UM and Calgar is just so awesome sauce. He fought back an entire Ork horde alone, defeated the Swarmlord in a grudge match, killed an Avatar easy (which Fulgrim, the guy who killed Guilliman, took a while to do). Oh, and their Primarch is dead but is coming back to life.

So, yeah, try again.

I still don't get why people think GW favours the Ultramarines though the "Codex Astartes" fluff.

This is, in the end, what ultimately gives you license to play non-Ultramarines. It is what differentiates the Space Marines franchise from so many others.

If GW had written up the Ultramarines as Space Marine, but without the Codex, they would be far more firmly established as "the one and archetypical Space Marines army". More like you have, say, Khador and only Khador, but no "similar to Khador but also my own" in the official fluff of Warmachine. If you "change Khador", you're no longer part of the official fluff. You are in your own tangent. Not so with Space Marines and GW. They actually build a trick into it that you could use to build, paint and create your own variation of the "example" given by GW in the form of Ultramarines, and yet be still part of the "official" universe.

Ultramarine players would still play Ultramarines, even if GW had never introduced that idea of a "Codex Astartes". All other Marines players should be grateful for the creativity this fluff-trick allows. And yes, this also goes for the "non-Codex-chapters". Space Wolves wouldn't be so special-snowflake-rebellious if they didn't have anything to rebel against. They are just as defined in their character by the Codex Astartes precisely because their main-traits are exemplified through their opposition to it.
