I voted Dark Angels because they are the first chapter I played (and still play). I love their models, colors, fluff, and most of their characters (even if they are poorly represented in the game).

Second to them would probably be Imperial Fists, because Dorn was a major baller (x2) and they have some of the best heresy-era fluff out there for a loyalist chapter. Plus, they spawned two of my favorite successors. That being Black Templars and Crimson fists.

Space Wolves! Gaze in awe at their epic beards!
The SW are my favourite chapter fluffwise, with the Iron Hands a very close second. I prefer the appearance of the IH (apart from the beards of course :p )
I really need to make an IH captain who combines an epic beard with bionics. That would be awesome.

Thanks for including the note on GKs in the poll.

I'm a big fan of alot of the sons of dorn,

Firstly black templars, they're pretty awesome, one of the most loyal chapters, they outright shun codex astartes and arent happy unless they're stabbing something.

Quite a fan of imperial fist and crimson fists, they have some cool stories and I like the colour schemes.

And also, I recently became a fan of the celestial lions they have an awesome back story (well worth a read) and an interesting heirarchy with a tribal african feel to it

Salamanders for their love of flamers as well as being great blacksmiths and that they seem to be one of the chapters that cares more about the civilians.

Favourite: Imperial Fists, Recovered vital weaponry from the traitors on Mars, Stalwart defenders of the Imperial Palace, who held it against almost impossible odds until the emperor slew Horus. and then had the foresight to not only give in to the arrogant threats of guilliman and stave off a second civil war, but then go on 'crusade' to hide the true strength of the legion from outsiders

Second Favourite: Emperors Children. because fulgrim killed the total douchebag Guilliman

Least Favourite: Ultra Marines. Borderline traitors, who managed to avoid the majority of the Heresy by 'conveniently' being too far away to intervene, and the horus heresy only just pre-empted his own ambitious plans to split the imperium, and then wage war (with him as the new emperor no doubt) and Guilliman then nearly plunged the victorious imperium into civil war by creating the codex astartes. a military genius he was not, because even a layman knows that the sure fire way to voctory is to concentrate your offensive power. he robbed the imperum of its offensive power when he split up the legions, while at the same time he ensured that the majority of space marines would be loyal to him. props to Fulgrim for ending his miserable existence before he could put his plans into action.

Based on fluff, Crimson Fists all the way.

They epitomise the grim determination of the Astartes, and, well, they're right there on the cover of 40k 1st Ed.

Agree with madtankbloke, least favourite are the Mary Stu Ultramarines.

Let's not forget just how much the blood angels contributed to the defense of Terra.

Guilliman was many things fluff wise, but a douche he was not.

If he HAD made an empire if Terra fell he would have crowned sanguinius empy.

He also saved the imperium from large scale rebellion of Astartes

The blood angels were there, which is more than can be said of the ultra marines 'convenient' absence, and far from saving the imperium from another large scale rebellion, he was the one who almost caused it. the foresight of the loyalist primarchs in aquiescing to his 'vision' was what prevented the rebellion. one has to wonder if he would have pushed his 'visionary' codex astartes had the legions that had borne the brunt of the fighting been up to strength. ironically it was fulgrim who saved the imperium after the heresy by ending guillimans pitiful traitorous existence, but the imperium still has to live with his crippling 'reforms'

Guilliman is one of the most heinous traitors the imperium has ever known, made all the more damaging by the fact he is revered as a visionary hero. at least horus had the guts to openly try to topple everything rather than smiling whilst he stabbed the imperium in the back. The imperial fists, the whitescars and the blood angels saved the imperium. Guilliman guaranteed it would wither and decay

That's quite a conspiracy theory but nothing in the HH series backs it up. The Ultrmarines were too far away by Horus' design so they couldn't help. He split the Legions to avoid a possible repeat of the Heresy. Tactical genius, meh.

Space Wolves all day, every day! I love in the codex how the imperial High Command tried to strip all honor's from the 6 surviving Grey Hunter's at the Battle for the Montberg Spaceport, and instead Bran Redmaw promoted them into his personal Wolf Guard. I envision my SW as a very "common sense" no politic's type, and that's me all day every day lol.

Space Wolves are extremly cool.

For the "dark" chapters, i'd have to hand my vote to the Carcharodons, and the Minotaurs for flat out badassery.

Dark Angels all the way. The hunt for the fallen, the secretive nature of the chapter (even through the concentric circles of command structure), the fact that they're a mini inquisition unto themselves. However one of the "oh that's just fething cool" things for me is the fact that all their successor chapters' chapter masters unofficially (and secretively) report back to the Supreme Grand Master of the Dark Angels. Put another way, the First Legion was never, really, truly disbanded. Just all around very cool.

... now if they could just get a codex that wasn't disappointing.

Space Wolves are pretty neat too, as are Grey Knights, and templars, but nothing touches the Dark Angels for me.
