What are you talking about? I don't see many people talking about that.

Maybe in 8th grade US history but besides for that....

That's funny. Have Republicans stopped frothing at the mouth with uninformed rage whenever Socialism or Communism are mentioned?

More to the point, what is so life changing about 0.818181818181818181818181818181818........ that it ended up causing the invasion of Iraq?

All jokes aside, yes it was a terrible tragedy but eventually you have to move on otherwise the Terrorists truly win.

Just let it become some half-forgotten footnote in a history book and those insane radicals who caused it lose the immortality of infamy.

They didn't do much good at the battle of San Jacinto. I don't really think the Alamo is a real one in the big win column for the Mexicans since the defenders were heavily out numbered, but caused Santa Anna to piss away 13 precious days and ened up with close to a 3 to 1 kill ratio in the final battle.
Santa Anna may have won at the Alamo, but he lost the war to do it.

I don't think moving on is what we need. Americans still need to be vigilant and look out for the country we live in. The main issue is the marketing. Evry night, I end up seeing at least one ad for some stupid gold commemorative coin. Will vets or families see proceeds from this? No? Then stop!

Ignore the commercialization of it, but never forget the fact that over 3000 innocent people from over three dozen countries were killed simply for believing that it is everyone's basic right to live in a free domocracy that values all minorities & religons with equality.

As a Canadian, it did effect us, because we suddenly were playing host to thousands of scared & worried people who'd been forced to land in a different country and had little to no idea of when they'd be allowed to get home.
Hundreds of Canadians showed up at airports across our country and opened up their homes to help shelter the flood of stranded passengers. Heck, one small town out east suddenly doubled their population! As horrible as that day was, it gave us a chance to once again help those in need without hesitation or reservation and prove that our values are stronger than the hatred of a few demented religious zealots.

I've never personally considered myself a victim due to me liking a show. If someone wants to try and hate on me for it then come on, I've had 20 years of practice of living with real problems and some child whining on the internet because I can like something with the colour pink in it without feeling emasculated doesn't affect me in the slightest.

But just for you I'll change it for a while, it'll probably end up back as Dash in a couple of weeks but for now it will be pony free, ok?

Im still blissfully ignorant of all this, is a brony a man who likes my little pony?

And secondly, I can guess by all the avatars it has been remade, but I have never seen it once on TV, why is it suddenly popular?

Is it like ren and stimpy and has strong adult undercurrents? Or is it something to do with pride or something?

We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

It's inexplicable. Go watch one on Youtube. I got about 5 minutes in, decided I didn't get it, and shrugged. It's just like dudes who enjoyed Powerpuff girls. I think it's kinda weird but you know, that's the internet.

It references adult things such as movies or books (one of my favourite being when 4 characters from The Big Lebowski made a cameo appearance in Pony form), which most children don't get but their parents would. It was designed to be a program which a parent wouldn't mind watching with their child, it's just that there are some of these older people who skip the children part and just watch it themselves.

If you have any other questions then feel free to PM me or ask in the Dakka Dakka MLP thread so we don't derail this one any more.

Well Wikipedia just cleared all that up... mental!

We used to watch ren and stimpy stoned when I was 15 cos he used to beat the gak out of Stimpy, and Its always had a strange nostalgic vibe about it as a result.. but all that, grown men wearing dresses and such...

Thats about it for me.

Although, its 0315 and ive drank about 20 pints.. so maybe its just that?

Powerpuff girls was awesome. So was Dexter. And it wasn't really aimed at 6 years old, as far as I can tell. It had appeal to a larger crowd. Like Invader Zim had appeal to kiddies and grown-up alike. Aaaah nostalgia...

It also marked a certain period in americanime, which Panty & Stockings with Garterbelt awesomely put straight in the Adult zone...

Dunkirk is another good example of what at first seemed like a defeat being turned around on the supposed victor by gents with testicles the size of cannon balls. The boys just hopped back to England for a bit to get properly spruced up for the ass kicking they were bringing with them.

Sadly, I see 9/11 more for the aftermath and the transformation that has occurred because of the attack more than anything else.
