Who cares about cover it gets it's 3+ armor vs the psyflemans.

Who gives a stuff? 2 will still put 2 wounds on it.

Follow these two simple rules to ensure a happy Dakka experience:

Rule 1 - to be a proper 40K player you must cry whenever a new edition of the game is released, and always call opposing armies broken when you don't win.

Rule 2 - Games Workshop are always wrong and have been heading for bankrupcy within 5 years since the early 90s.

I've been having no trouble taking out Quad Guns with my Vendettas. Most flyers are tall enough to see clear over the Aegis walls and get unobstructed shots at the gun emplacement. Smart players can mitigate this by placing the gun right up against the walls or by surrounding the emplacement with infantry, thus achieving at least 25% coverage. Not all players are smart, though.

OT, but just wanted to say that this isn't possible. An opponent can't reserve more than half of his army (ignore things that must always start in reserve). Second of all, if your opponent has no models on the table at the end of a turn, they automatically lose in this edition.

Considering that almost everyone is using vastly more points than 140 to kill the gun, I guess I already have made a bargain if you take it out.

on average you'd do 1.5 wounds... So by nearly guaranteed you mean if you get a little lucky you'll kill it. And you're firing 270 points at 50 points to hopefully kill it. They are a lot more survival than the old artillery emplacements.

Well if I put a squad with it, it can choose who it fires at I think and if you can then put the squad at the front then you could take to wound of the squad at the front then you can easily keep a gun emplacement alive for a long time

Unfortunately that's not how it works, the squad crewing it just has one of it's guys shooting that instead of his weapon and thus all of them must shoot the same target.
Additionally since the gun isn't joined to the unit shooting can still be put into it.

The other thing to keep in mind is when assualting the Gun Emplacement is a seperate unit. If you want to kill it in CC you need to charge it directly and not just the squad firing it.

While we're on the subject (hijacking thread? ), in what situation would a ADL gun Snap Shot at anything, given it has Interceptor & Skyfire?

The inclusion this text in the rules "of (unless it Snap Fires) blah blah" is confusing me. Be gentle, 1st cup of coffee is only half consumed .

You could pin the person firing it, that would cause them to shoot as ballistic skill 1.

Not if the gun is on a building then it can always shoot at bs 2 against the closest target.

Hadn't really thought about it, but can a gun emplacement move? (looking back and forth from 114 and 105)

That's for emplaced guns, not gun emplacements.

Yeah, the Quad-gun or Icarus Lascannon bought with a Bastion is still a Gun Emplacement and can be killed seperatly(and can't auto-fire)

And does not even need to be anywhere near the fortification that bought it. There are no restricktions on where you put a Gun Emplacement on the table.

Hmmm... well it seems my suggesting that everyone take the lascannon instead of the quad gun was indeed a better option.
