I can't find anything to indicate it would become part of your unit, so is it really just 2 shots and it's gone?

Seems like an awfully steep price to pay for something that's gone on the first turn.

T7 and a 3+ armor save, and possibly a cover save.

Not all that tough to kill, but is mostly immune to small arms fire.

I have used the Icarus Lascannon in all of my 6th ed games, it has not been destroyed yet.

Behind an Aegis defence line it should have a 4++ save as well.

Yeah, I had to hit one with 4 Doomsday Ark blasts (thats Str 9 AP 1) over 2 turns to take one out. My opponents army hadn't arrived from reserve yet so there was nothing else to shoot at. They are fairly survivable.

5 different games so far.

The tyranid player tried killing it with both of his hive guard squads, I saved all of the wounds, he went on to shoot other stuff with his hive guard the rest of the game seeing how much fire he would have had to pour into it to actually kill it..

The SW player tried one volley with 2 Long Fangs, The cover save saved the wounds, his other Long Fangs wounded once and caused a wound, but left it alone to shoot other more squishy targets that didn't have a 4+ cover save.

The other three games had similar situations.

Ah, so the answer was no one.

So, if its being manned by a squad, you can choose whether to fire at the gun or the squad?

They tried, they just gave up because they had better things to shoot at.

One lascannon was not hurting them all that badly, and none of them had flyers.

Yes, you have to choose your target as normal.

Hmm..

I wonder which is more survivable. An Icarus LC or a Razorback? Time for some math...

Depends whats shooting at it. The Razorback is infinitly more survivable against Bolter fire.

Not all poisons are actual poisons. Poison in the game also represents corrosive acid(although it still does nothing to vehicles)

I have destroyed both autocannons in both games with dark lance and poison shots before my flyers arrived. One died to 4 shots other died to 3 shots my opponent just didn't roll great and mine was good. The Las cannon to me isn't worth shooting at as much as the auto cannon

Why on earth would we do that? Kill the unit firing it and then man the guns! Termigaunts love dakka too.

And yes this is legal to do.

Further note: If you leave a gun emplacement without someone within 1" of it I will deploy Deathleaper and shoot it with him.

Nothing funner than taking an opponents own gun against him

I try to kill their gun as fast as possible, every game, especially ig my Jokaero get 60" lascannons on their chart roll.

I destroy gun enplacements like I kill ants, easily and without mercy. Two ironclads drop podding in first turn tends to do wonders, and if that doesn't work/isn't needed, then my 2 sniper units or thunderfire cannons can put a stop to it.

Heavy flamers are very funny as I blow away the guys on the gun. Same with the small blasts my cannons toss. Then my three storm talons just wander in and mop up.

That's a lot of firepower for one gun emplacement.

From what I've seen, not only does that not work, It usually backfires horriably. Intercept to blow up drop pod, s10 hits on the dread, then intercept on the dread if it still lives.

Pods don't blow up with Str10. Only Flyers do that.

And you can only shoot a unit with Intercepter after they have already deepstruck. You can target the drop pod or the dread at that point, but the dread in no longer embarked.

And Ironclad is AV13, so rough to knock it out with just glances from one interceptor.

Actually since they have interceptor its normal bs for ground targets.

Aegis line emplaced guns die easily to two dual twin-lnked autocannon, psybolt dreadnoughts. Granted it does need both to shoot, but if they do destruction is very nearly guaranteed, T7, cover save and all. But given that emplaced guns are one of thenfew things that have Interceptor, i think if running a list that has flyers, it's worth disposing of them.

Follow these two simple rules to ensure a happy Dakka experience:

Rule 1 - to be a proper 40K player you must cry whenever a new edition of the game is released, and always call opposing armies broken when you don't win.

Rule 2 - Games Workshop are always wrong and have been heading for bankrupcy within 5 years since the early 90s.

Or a few collosus shells
Dont even have to be directed at the gun, just the unit in the defense line. Ooooh things just got nasty.
