I think anyone asking for him to come back really doesn't 'get' the character of the Blood Angels, and what they are about.

It's built into component of their being in 40k, their rules and how they are represented - in background terms a big part of them died with their Primarch, and by all accounts it will ultimately be the end of their chapter as well.

I hope that it's intended to be this... but all in all, I think the Sanguinor is kind of a stupid character that shouldn't exist in the first place. Sanguinius needs to stay dead.

All I want to know is why is everyone hell bent on ending 40K??? Don't people know that if the primarchs come back and there is a huge clash of chaos vs. imperium then 40K is over.... over people. The whole point to having unknowns in the story line is so that the story will always continue... who really cares who the Sanguinor is, it doesn't really matter he's a special Char. and that's it nothing more and nothing less.

Much as it would be epic with all the primarchs (both loyalist and traitor) coming back to the Imperium, such as Sanguinius's soul being reformed (it's a possibility when you hear about the sensei Emperor) it would defeat the purpose of the 40K universe. Each chapter and all their successors would lose their heritage if they had been regrouped back into a single Legion and all the mysteries and idiosyncrasies that keep fans hooked and plots developing would be lost. It would be like a total reset to the Great Crusade/Horus Heresy era. The only way I can see it happening is if GW decides to permanently shut down and they wished to finish the 40K universe off. And I'm not sure that's going to happen anytime soon....

Spoiler:
On a slightly different note - it's disputed if Dorn really did die. They supposedly have his skeleton and his hands, but as these were found in a jettisoned escape pod after the battle with some other relics no one can be sure if the Traitors just jettisoned another Imperial Fist after Dorn escaped in an attempt to weaken the Imperial Fists. Maybe Dorn went on a pilgrimage after this to atone for the emperors death and his mistake at the Iron Cage. The Imperial Fists themselves (at least some of them) still believe that he somehow escaped.

In all I don't think any of the primarchs should be coming back sometime soon, and especially Sanguinius as Dorn and the Emperor saw him dead, but in each Primarch case GW have woven small elements of ambiguity that allow each of the primarchs to come back if the overall 40K plot leads that way. Even Ferrus Mannus is believed to be alive by some of the Iron Hands though he was seen to be beheaded on Istvaan V. Who knows - it could have just been an Iron Hands Champion that dueled with Fulgrim and in the heat of battle he was mistake for Ferrus Mannus. But as for Sanguinius - I think he should stay dead for a while longer.

I dunno, I agree with alot of the above comments, about Sanguinis really oughta stay dead (this isn't a comic book, only SOME characters are allowed plot armor, not all of them). However, I do like the interpretation that a part of him is going around pile-driving Bloodthirsters from orbit. Even if he is dead for good, his ghost can keep kicking ass, so long as it's only occasionally.

Not really sure what that means, but I agree generally agree with the majority of the thread in saying that the plot of 40K as a whole is better off without the Primarchs at the moment - all I was trying to get at is that all the Primarchs have been given the ability to come back into GW's scheme for 40K if GW wishes it. There's loads of contradictions, legends and rumours built into it. I realise 40K isn't a comic, but it is a huge story - it has to be considering they've put so much lore into it.

Totaly - agree -and loyal primarch's shoud never return....good story thing should stay good
The should never return in the time where we play the actual game. However if the fluff were to continue, I see no problem with them coming back one final time, although I'd expect them to die heroically rather than just stay alive and lead humanity to success. That would simply be boring.

Agreed.
Minus the dead ones; Ferrus, Sanguinius, Dorn.

Sanguinius is pretty cool. But whats the point if he returns? At this point in the fiction the Imperium is like late period Rome. Can still kick ass, can still throw out a badass general who will own their enemies for a while. But the tide of fate is against them.
The primarchs work better as individuals who had their time (30k); and now only remain as legends/inspirations.

Maybe its just me but i dont understand why they couldnt have th primarchs come back somewhere in the future, write the fluff, sell some books, and still have the game take place in its curret setting.

Once the starwars movies came out it filled out the main plot line about the major characters, but still left plenty of room for play in expandingthe fluff. Look at clone wars series, lucas is making a ton of cash on that and we already ultimately know how it all ends.

I'm pro change, and i'm kinda bired with all the fluff being the same aince i started playing... Live or die i just wish something would happen with the emperor...
