Dont leave me alone here! I beg you sire!!

But back on topic, I agree with those saying that veteran players will more than often play both games. I play both games and have rather large and seasoned armies in both.

As such its a more methodical crowd. hence why posts sit for a longer time. That and this is a primarily 40k forum.

Exactly the opposite here. Started with WHFB in 7th, liked the game for its tactic, then 8th hit and I was and am utterly disgusted by the dumbed-down crap WHFB turned out to be, starting with the loss of tactical movement and going straight to the major piece of overpowered crap that magic system turned out to be.

Small rant, but I used to like WHFB that has turned to Yahtzee Deluxe with 8th.

So to sum up this thread:

This is mostly a 40k forum.
Less fantasy players in the US.
There appear to be more individual army forums that are more active.

Other possible reasons:
Fantasy is a little less competitive and these forums are for those who are more competitive. Why else would you post a list or view the tactics section?

My reason which what shot down by some and supported by one I believe:
Cost. But then I'm like Herman Cain with his 9-9-9, you ask me a question about anything and my answer is lower the cost increase demand, more people playing, more people posting. For me it's a crusade and I'll continue to beat the drum because with increases like I've seen in the only 2 years I've been playing a few more years and GW will implode.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

Not gonna happen. In the contrary, GW sees themselves as a company that produces "premium" products.

Oddly enough, the majority of people have the opposite opinion.

Movement is still king.

Magic is actually less powerful IMO. In 7th you could have HE armies with magic phases packing 25+ powerdice. Sure, spells weren't as individually powerful, but you could just spam and spam and spam them. In 8th you are limited to 12 power dice. That means, on a maxed out roll, you can maybe cast 3-4 spells and get 1-2 of them through. Or you can cast one big spell.

I'd rather take 1 purple sun then a dozen enemy spells and get totally shut down myself, and I'm an Ogre player.

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

7th was an abortion of an edition unless you played dark elves or deamons.

I have played since 4th (making my opinion more valid then yours) and 8th is by far the best.

Damn I cant wait to the GW legal team codex comes out now there is a dex that will conquer all.

I prefer the 7th edition ruleset myself. It was the brutal army books that were released which made 7th an unpleasant time. But judging the two editions on their core rules I prefer 7th.

As said this is a 40k forum first and foremost

If you went to say the UK based The Warhammer Forum, you will find a much bigger crowd of Fantasy over there

I've been a bit off on fantasy for a bit. Guess I'm kind of waiting for the next army book after the adrenaline rush of the TK, OK, and VC nearly back to back releases.

Yeah, as most people said, this is mostly a 40k forum (I think it says in a description somewhere). But I'm pretty active in this section, so everything's fine!

7th ed made me quit fantasy. Getting steamrolled by unpainted daemon armies became so common place that I just got fed up.

Now I feel challenged playing the game and just seeing the matchup does not tell me who just won before a dice was rolled. (Oh you have more Horrors than god? Ok I am just gunna pack up now)
