My biggest gripe about GW 'Combi-weapons' is that the one shot weapons is on top.

That is completely backwards. I know 'It's 40k' but I can't tell myself that having the 'M203' on top is ok. I just can't.

Not to mention the models themselves are inconsistent and poorly done. Some have the ejection port for the bolter inline with the combi-melta.

It's just bad. lazy modelling.

The Combi-plasma in the Commander's box is the way it should be. Combi-weapon underneath the bolter.

I agree completely, but the problem comes down to the bolter. From my perspective, it's just way too much work to get the combi-bolter looking proper with the attachment on the bottom. It's easier to get WISIWYG by getting the one-shot from the top than the bottom:

Then again, i guess you could argue that, given that there's only one shot, you'd want to put the charge/weapon system in a place where you could aim more accurately with it, so as to ensure a greater degree of accuracy

with WISIWYG being the core though, many people are not like as to care. If we are going from the realism standpoint, then the leman russ is a worthless piece of junk: it's dimensions make it unsuitable for combat anywhere other than Saskatchewan (i believe that louisianna is the american equivalent), because any incline greater than 20* would mean the tank would roll over.

Not going to buy any of that!

The proportions between the combi-weapons seem waaay off.
Huuge meltagun nozzle and absolutely tiny plasmagun.
Where is the internal consistency?

I thought these were old 2nd Ed casts and paintjobs, until I looked closer and saw they were ready for Advance Order. I promptly flipped my gak.

What are they thinking? They didn't even bother to photoshop out the imperfections or add in differences to each Lighting Claw, which is their usual schtick.

I reckon the heavies look decent, everything else is either rushed, ugly or just plain stupid!
(and that,s coming from someone who converts stormbolters by gluing together two bolters)

Terrible, just terrible.

The claws are from the old metal veteran box set if I remember corectley, and honestly, they couldn't be bothered to straiten the claws?

All the guns save the combi-melta look awful and out of scale. No way I'd buy this crap.

Im getting them, I want the Flamer for my Legion of the damned.
Also, The Flamer looks stupid. The melta ok, the Bolter ok, the plasma looks stupid.
But look at the bright side, The pack of 5 meltas are back. for ten, thats 1 for 2 bucks so combi-meltas will be easier to make.

I heard someone say these casts are given to low level trainees when they are low priority like this.

The Combi flamer and plasma look simply awful, and the Claws are shabby at best.

Not very impressive, GW.

On Nimbosa, cramming as many guardsmen into troop carriers as possible.

I am buying this for the heavy bolter, the heavy flamer, and the combi melta, the rest look horrid.

Well with this I will either be making my own combie weapons or buying from a third party. The newly resein melta guns will make converting come of my own easy.

Really sad quality on most of them. The shocking thing is the downright awkward design choices on most of the combi-weapons.

Could someone put up photos of the models in here if they buy them? I'm curious to see if they look better in person or if they are still odd looking models.

I miss metal. You could at least straighten out metal claws. Resin snaps like brittle twig if you so much as sneeze near it.

Most of the special-made weapon bits packs that aren't recuts from other kits (or which are not plastic kits) are horrid. I actually bought the terminator lightning claws shown in the previous page awhile ago for my chaos terminators, when they were metal, and you can fix the issues on the metal ones. Resin would be pretty tough I think. It's far better just to get what you need from a bits store, and about as expensive anyway

Now, I haven't tried any of their shoulderpads or such. I have some forge world shoulderpads and the ones i have are not up to par.

Soak it in warm water, bend it, soak it in cold water to recure it. People have been doing this with thin, brittle resin parts for years. It's not a new thing.

While I applaud GW for making "bits" kits...

These are stunningly underwhelming and dramatically fall below expectations.

Almost as bad as the finecast railguns.

Really guys, seriously? How hard would it have been to make a 3d model and get that printed and make your molds for that...you know, something with parallel lines and actual 90 degree corners?

Maybe they don't have decent 3d artists....thats easy, have a contest once a month, "submit your 3d model, gw owns it, but then if it is selected you get X parts free or your name in the fluff ...what ever". Total epic failure.

I was hoping this would be a good kit...now to go back to scrounging up bits.

I think GWS is finally putting place the biggest thing they learned from Finecast: why feed them steak when they'll eat gak?
