On my next turn, I throw 2 monoscythe missiles at his squad and wipe all 5 of the bastards off the table. The rest of my army just sails on by licking the gore off theirs fingers
Boom baby. BOOM!
Never underestimate imperial guard sergeants...
I had one, back when I played guard in 4th... I gave him the Honorifica Imperialis, to boost his stats to the level of company commander. He had a power fist. Must have killed 20 sisters of battle in hand to hand in one game... non-stop jokes about power fisting my opponents sisters to death. Awesome.

Had a small kill team game with my space wolf friend, it was my berserkers vs his grey hunters with a terminator wolf guard leading them. The fight seemed pretty even and after a few more rounds, it came down to my Skull Champion vs his terminator. My champions comes in for the kill, my friend is absolutely pumped for the coming assault, he even proudly remarks how he'll beat me in glorious combat and avenge the dead grey hunters. He never expected it when my dudes bolt pistol takes a shot, it hits, wounds and miraculously he fails his terminator save. GLORIOUS, DEATH TO THE EMPERORS DOGS.

My most recent game against crons: Assault terminators Deep Strike 'on target' turn 3. Turn 4 They assault a necron spider-walker-tank thing and destroy it with 6 thunderhammer attacks Turn 5 They assault a doomsday ark with the same result. Turn 6 They assault a big group of necron troops led by 3 HQ IC. 12 Lightning claw attacks deal only 3 wounds but then the 2 THs strike, 6 hits and 6 wounds killing all three IC. Overall they killed about 4 times of their value in points. On the other hand it took 3 full turns of shooting from half my army to take a Monolith down. (the quantum shielding or whatever its called making it count as Armour 17 if the shot glances)

Waaaay Back in 3rd edition during the Battle for Armageddon WWC I had a librarian take down a Daemon Prince, Ork Truck Boy Squad, Ork Bike Squad, while making it 5 of 8 feet across the massive board. He finally dies to a squad of DE wyches.
I also had one were my buddy was playing my IG vs. my BA and all he had left was Yarrick. Yarrick nearly won the game because he would get up every turn with his ability and nearly captured the prisoner we were both going after. It was priceless to see one guy going up against a whole army and nearly winning.

For an enemy:
Opponents army got pretty thoroughly drubbed, leaving just an archon and a few troops.
That archon soaked up over a hundred shoota and big shoota shots before the shadowfield collapsed, and was still alive at the end of the game, making it a draw...

Besides the single Executioner tank lobbing 5 plasma blasts that scatter around to wreck 3 rhinos and a razor back I had a more recent one.
one of my tech preists named "Steve" (he carrys a drill like device as compared to Bob who has the gear axe) was tending to a damaged leman russ when some enemy terminators and assault marines wreck the tank. the blast kills 2 of Steve servitors. I send steve to avenge the loss of the tank charging at the assault marines first and the termis decide to enter the fray with steve and his few remaining servitors. Steve never takes a hit and manages to smash apart the termis and many assault marines in his rage. by the end of the game he is still locked in combat with the remaining termis and assualt marines only having lost the rest of his servitors and always making his moral checks.
Steve was then allowed to tend to my super heavys. he earned it!

He's trolling you extremly badly. Monoliths and scythes are the only things in the necron codex that do not have quantum shielding, they just become stupidly over powered.
Av17 needs 9 on 2d6 using a melta weapon. Lance weapons would be the only realistic way to kill it.
Quantum shielding afects all shots until the vehicle takes a penetrating hit.

Most of mine came from a 500-pt 3v3 match with no force-org chart that I played.
Opponents - tau (broadside team, crisis team) tau again (4 gundrones, 12 fire-warriors, 6 stealth suits, krootblob) and Dark Eldar (6 scourges, haemonculus and friends)
Our side - Dark Angles (2 squads 5 deathwing termies and a dread), Tyranids (carnifex, flying hive tyrant), and myself with necrons (Zahndrekh, Obyron, and a court with as many 2+armor/scythe lords as I could fit.)
The way the deployment was set up- on the left side of the board (playing short) was battlesuit tau +krootblob versus carnifex and dark angles, rightside was my lords and the flying hive tyrant versus everything else. Turn one, tyrant strafes the stealth suit and leaves me alone to deal with everything else while he goes hunting broadsides. That game, my lords killed everything on my side, including killing the scourges on their charge, and, ant one point, being reduced to nothing but zahndrekh and obyron with one wound left each after a charge from the haemonculus, then obyron taking his initiative step, getting 9 warscythe attacks, and wiping all but the multi-wound haemonculus off the board in one sweep. Insult to injury? the rest of the squad that died on the charge stands back up right after. By the time the battlesuits were driven from the other side of the board, the only other thing my allies helped me with was shooting the squad of fire-warriors right before I charged them off the board. Automatically Appended Next Post: Daemonhammer wrote:

Yikes, someone is cheating you hard. Monolith and flyers don't get shielding, and even if they did, shielding is only 2 points, not 3. Basicly, everything this dude threw at you was 1-3 points tougher than it should have been.

Christmas, 1996. I was having a game with three friends of mine, blood angels + imperial guard vs chaos + orks. We were deep into turn 3 when we realized it was snowing outside. In fact it had been pouring for quite a while, as the streets were covered in snow.
This is so rare where we live that we decided to put the battle on hold and go solve our differences like men should: In a no-quarter snowball fight! After an hour or so of trips, falls, freezing cold and blunt objects to the head we went inside, helped ourselves to some hot coffee and continued the tabletop battle, which went on until well into the night.
Then, exhausted as we were, headed to some pub to drink some beer, dance to Judas Priest and celebrate how awesome we were.
One of the best days in my life, really.

My heavy bolter dude, in two games done very nearly made a difference to the game except for my poor stragety early on.
Last roll of the dice on the last turn for me was after moving my combat squad to secure a objective (to get some points at least) I snap shot my heavy bolter dude at the last remaining tac guy on a objective on the opponents team and manage to kill him.
The next day playing against demons great unclean one deepstrikes into my deployment taking a pred out for first blood, few shots at him and a bit of CC brings him down to one wound, he charges whats left of a combat squad where just so happens my heavy bolter dude is, gets overwatched by him then drops down dead.
On the other hand, while on my way to my first win, playing against space wolves on relic mission i had first blood and linebreaker, just lost my tac squad on the relic and it was my opponents turn he concreates everything on tac squad in his deployment they weather quite a few krak missiles and bolter shots then deny the witch from his first psyker, his second pskyer casts lightening power? and kills a few marines, I fail leadership and run just outside of his deployment, he had slay the warlord i had first blood. Was winning quite well up until then as well!

I have a ton of favorite moments most of them from games that I lost here are two.
I remember playing as tau and orks versus vanilla marines once (I didn't have enough points of tau to play his army so he let me use some orks). My opponent had a beautifully painted predator that was the pride of his army, and kept bragging about how my tau were screwed when he got into range, I deep striked a battlesuit with twin fusion blasters behind it on turn 2 and wrecked it. I still lost the game...
Another time It was vanilla marines versus vanilla marines, my vanguard squad got slaughtered except for one guy with chainsword and bolt pistol, he killed 6 guys single handed. Because of him, I won the game. He survived 13 bolter shots, a krak missile and a plasma pistol before being oneshotted by a sergeant with a bolt pistol....

He would be lying his ass off.
Quantum shielding adds +2 to your armour, until it takes a Pen. Then it's gone.
Monoliths ( pg 47 necron dex) do NOT have this ability. Neither do the flyers. Doom Scythes have Living Metal (which may be where he is getting confused) but that rule does not up your armour.
Doomsday arks, annhiliation barges, Catacomb barges, Stalkers and Ghost arks do have Quantum Shielding.

During an apocalypse game with my friends this past summer, using the 6th edition rules:
Best moment was when my Chaplain (a counts-as Straken) was fighting my friend's Stompa and he ends up ripping his titan CCW off!
Then to add to the craziness, next turn my Vendetta dropped off a special weapons squad that all had melta guns. They all fire at the Stompa and succeed in an apocalyptic explosion which annihilated all 20 boyz and warboss inside the Stompa, about 7 Ork boyz that were nearby, around 15 Imperial Guard including the Chaplain, and the entire special weapons team, and a couple Space wolves that were on my team. There was one Imperial Guard survivor from that whole ordeal.

Stealthy Dark Angels Scout with Shotgun

|
My first one was playing against a Chaos Space Marine player in third edition who had Abaddon and Retinue in his army. I infiltrated my Scouts (armed with Shotguns) in close to him with the intent of sending them after Abaddon. My opponent chuckled heartily and we got to the business of playing. On turn two, my Scouts emerged from a nearby forest and shot up Abaddon and his retinue and managed to kill two terminators, then they assaulted and killed two more of his retinue and put a wound on Abaddon himself while only losing two in return! My opponents rolls were atrocious, while mine were absolutely on fire. My Scout squad wound up getting killed off the next turn but their names passed into legend. They gunned down Abaddon's personal retinue and gave him a black eye!
One of my next ones came in the second LA GT, I had my shotgun Scouts with me again and ended up playing an Imperial Guard player. On turn three, my Scouts managed to assault the rear of a Chimera with an embarked Armored Fist squad and proceeded to punch it so hard, it exploded! My opponent looked a little pale after that.

Best moment ever was back in 3rd ed. my Grey Hunters rhino rushed my brothers Eldar Guardian line and decimated his unit. next turn they got counter charged by his Avatar killing a few Grey Hunters causing them to flee. In my turn i tank shocked the avatar with my rhino who elected to do a Death or Glory, he needed a 3+ on two d6 to glance and survive but he rolled a double 1. The rhino proceeded to crush said Avatar under its track. Now that was a nice sounding crunch.
Another favourite moment was when my space wolves faced 150+ model CSM army all kitted out with heavy/special weapons etc etc.. all my rhinos and drop podding termies w/ wolf lord got smashed but about 5-6 grey hunters with a wolf guard made it to his lines and proceeded to completly decimate him in CC. game eneded up in a minor victory to me.

Mine would have to be my most recent game against Eldar and codex marine allies. The mission was false emperor's will. I had a squad of traitor marine vets in a building waiting to hop out and grab my objective. My chaos marines were all engaged in clean up against the Avatar of Khaine and the last space marine biker, when 5 terminators finally arrive after many turns of mishaps. They stick their landing, no more than 6" from my objective. My guardman exit their building. My predator fires into the marines...nothing. My obliterators...shoot plasma into the sky. The nearby traitor CCS opens fire wounding 3. 2 save and one . Then the vets open up doing a number of wounds. My friend rolls 4 more 1s.
The guardsman stagger out of the vindicator shot that kills 8 of them and hold for the game. The avatar finishes off my marines in CC and dies to Plague Marine bolter fire. Papa Nurgles lot hold the forward objective and traitor guard the rear. Glory to the dark gods.

Turn 2 of the 5th scenario in Dark Vengeance, my first game of 6th: I had my plasma cannon shoot in the 2nd turn as soon as night-fighting lifted. The chosen were all clumped together to avoid some terrain, plate landed right in the middle of them. Rolled all 5's and 6's to wound... whole chosen squad vaporized. After that, chaos didn't stand much chance
