Subject: What are your thoughts on the rave scene?
My entire knowledge of them comes from that one episode in "The thin blue line" where Rowan Atkinson in a police uniform offers his son tickets to the rave and that one seen in Blade.
We were once so close to heaven, St. Peter came out and gave us medals; declaring us "The nicest of the damned".
“Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.'”

I was never able to figure out the difference between a rave and a normal nightclub. Is it just that raves play more electronica based music, and therefore have more of the stuff that's common among people who like that kind of music (drugs, stupid hair extensive, those pants with the fluro strips on them)?
“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”
Adam Smith, who must have been some kind of leftie or something.

Yeah, I feel the same way they seem the same to me.

I missed it in the UK when it was really big in the early 90's, although in the late 90's there was still a really big dance and then drum & bass scene centred around Bristol which still continues to this day, with clubs that would be open till 6-7am in the morning years before the 24hr drinking laws came in. And of course the 'illegal raves' around the South West where you would get those big trucks with speakers on the back that would set up in a field somewhere - you'd get a text message a day or 2 before giving a location, and then usually the police would turn up at some point before the early hours, and there would be people scattering in all directions and hiding in hedgerows
Have got a lot of time for that kind of music though and as a night out don't think there is a lot that can compare to it. Don't go out as much these days to be honest although I saw an Orbital gig the other night which was awesome, although sad to see that a lot of the DJ's I liked are starting to look decidedly middle-aged (I guess they must be now!)
Hallucinagens are only good in a group of people taking them, and only if people in that group are prepared to look after those who might not be having the best time at certain points in the night.
when i did them if someone said "I'm fething u'p, or I'm lost" you really have to stop think for a second and them engage those people. Laughing at them is shitful.
Manchu - "But so what? The Bible also says the flood destroyed the world. You only need an allegorical boat to tackle an allegorical flood."
Shespits "Anything i see with YOLO has half naked eleventeen year olds Girls. And of course booze and drugs and more half naked elventeen yearolds Girls. O how i wish to YOLO again!"
Rubiksnoob "Next you'll say driving a stick with a Scandinavian supermodel on your lap while ripping a bong impairs your driving. And you know what, I'M NOT GOING TO STOP, YOU FILTHY COMMUNIST"

I have had a bad trip and a good one in the same night. I ate a bunch of mushrooms with some guy that I knew and a bunch of his friends and went to some hippy concert on New years. I only ate an 8th but I thought I was going to have a stroke. I didnt like the people/band/crowd/ hippies. All i could do was to sit on a couch on one of the balconies and hope i my buddy came and found me like he said he would. At the end of the concert he showed up with a giant glass of water and I was ok.
Later that night we went to an after party where all of my close friends were and what a difference that made. I felt like a gorilla sized weight was lifted off my back. Not sure how, but before i left the party i ended up eating more shrooms and having an awesome night. It was night and day the difference between doing them with strangers and your close friends. I miss my buddy Sid.

Asking a forum of socially awkward nerds about parties or dance/music based social events will end in poor results.

Raves are more dance focused and tend to skew a lot younger.

There's a big difference between E and caffeine. E does not go down easily It's like having hair spray sprayed directly onto your tongue from about an inch away.
