Enough Templates? What does that mean?

Surely you meant ALMOST enough templates?

For when i ran Vanilla Marines in 5th ed, always Pedro with a full squad of Honor Guard with a banner and relic blades and a Chappy all in a crusader... Yeah come at me bro!

For my Blood Angels it was always my 10 man Death Company with 2 fists, 3 power weapons, and 2 infernus pistols with a Reclusiarch/Crusader fun bus or Lemartes/Stormraven fun bus

For my Dark Eldar i always ran my Cronos with full upgrades, oh yes did he spread the pain!

And now in my Necrons i always have 2 full squads of Immortals, 1 with gauss and 1 with tesla!

Don't forget the Hades drill. Why take a Chimera when you can drive a giant drill straight into the enemy?

After Marbo, the Hades drill is the best unit of all time. Even when I'm feeling merciful and not using all three of mine I still take at least one.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

The lowly imperial guardsman.

Sure, 99 times out of 100 they will be chopped in half by a marine, some tyranid, or a demon price, but that one time they will find the courage to sand fast, hold the line, and beat the demon prince to death with the butt of their lasgun.

The Leman Russ gets an honorable mention. I've yet to have an opponent penetrate its front AV 14 armor. Ever.

The Master of Ordinance gets a mention too. When the scatter dice agree, my opponent picks up that fancy-pants HQ the first turn.

Shortly after i started in 40k I bought a vindicator because nobody else at my flgs used them. That was just after 3rd edition came out and I haven't made a marine list since that purchase that didn't include at least one.

Marbo. When I place him on the field, I don't say a thing and just I shuttle up my iPod with some speakers to the Rambo 2 soundtrack where he deals the hurt to the Russians in the jungle....especially the scene with "the eye"...you all know what I'm referring to

My best unit is definitely Belial and his maxed out terminator command squad, including apothecary, banner and a lot of storm shields and thunder hammers all thrown into a land raider crusader
. A chaplain is a nice touch too.

While I may concede that Marbo is a bad ass, the real winner is Long Fangs.

Everything else presented here would get... Wait, IS destroyed by Long Fangs. Hi, I'm cheaper than every other heavy support unit with more special rules than any other marine AND I get an ability that anyone would kill for, split firing. Adding a Rune Priest for synergy and parking them on a Skyshield for 3+ cover, 4++ invulnerable save means good luck killing them.

I want allies just to bring Marbo and a Basilisk. Both amazing units from IG and I love em, but the dudes who, fluff wise, sit in the back telling war stories, making bets, and are the most efficient heavy support in the game? Winner.

Just to get into a pissing contest, both Genestealers and the Emperor's Champion would walk through a pack of Long Fangs, and Marbo would leave them a bit worried as well.

For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.

Nice. They finally learned that the best way to kill stuff and LIVE is to shoot them haha. It never made sense to me to run headlogn into gunfire when you can sit and shoot back.

Also, keep in mind that it is YOUR PERSONAL favorite/best unit, not THE best unit. And for the points you listed for those longfangs there are a lot of things that can take them out. Everything has a counter. But yes, I agree that long fangs are damn good.

I have much love for my barge overlord. He can consistently wipe 10 man marine squads each turn.

He's so hated in my group that lists pop up just to kill him.

Last night he made a dreadknight kill itself in 1 turn.

I have to second the Tervigon for Nids. I don't think I've made a list without one (usually two) in the past year and a half.

I'd go with the warscythe/MSS Overlord for Necrons. He can just about win any challange presented, and is the easiest way I've found for dealing with beatstick HQs like Ghaz, Mephiston, and the Swarmlord.
