Yes, the latest Codex tries to increase the role of the Daemon Primarchs. Mortarion and Perturabo are both mentioned as doing stuff since the Heresy and it is said that "rumors persist" that the Daemon Primarchs are at the herald of the chaos armies, which in GW language basically means they are.

Lorgar is still apparently spending 10,000 years sitting on his hands, though.

Black Crusade (The FFG RPG) makes this explicit.

It's stupid because it has already been stated that the Daemon Primarchs are above the petty things of the material universe. They no longer care about the workings of mortals.

They are gods. Gods do not interact with the petty creatures beneith them.

Only Angron made himself manifest so he could chop heads.

Mortarion is DEATH. Not a ghostly image of the Grim Reaper... not a spreader of plague and disease. He is DEATH! He took the job title.

Magnus finally taps into the wellspring of all knowlege. He's having a jolly goodtime understanding all and nothing.

Pert is watching over his own metal world.

There is no reason for a Daemon Primarch to march against the Imperium. They no longer care.

I think Fulgrim, and Mortarion don't have much reason to care about the Imperium anymore, but the others do. Lorgar has dedicated himself to spreading the glory of Chaos, Magnus hasn't exacted his vengeance against the Space Wolves, Perturabo has not destroyed the Imperial Fists.

Angron of course was the only Daemon Primarch to be active consistently post-Heresy so he's left off the list.

There is a recurrent theme in more dramatic works that some of the Daemon Primarchs have "abandoned" the Long War in favor of the Great Game since elevating to Daemonhood. See long dramatic monologues lamenting this in the Night Lords trilogy.

I actually like the concept, as it fleshes out the CSM and gives them a greater sense of tragedy behind their existence. That being said, the Daemon Primarchs returning for the End Times or being active against the Imperium as well still makes sense.

How consistent have Angron been active? I can think of only once he has been out of the warp, in the first war of Armageddon, where he killed a bunch of dudes and got himself banished.

Fulgrim have been out of the warp AFAIK only once himself, but at least he killed a Primarch on his real-world venture.

I have not read the new dex as well as I should, but if I am not mistaken both Perturabo and Mortarion have been in the material world.

In M38, Angron and 50,000 World Eaters rampaged around the Imperium for 200 years and destroyed a hundred Sectors. That's pretty active. I believe he only stopped when he returned to the Eye of Terror to prepare for the First Armageddon War.

He and the 50000 berzerkers ended up on Armageddon, so he has been out of the warp once. I would not call that consistently. That is equal or less than all the other exept Logar, who I have never read about that he has gone out of the Eye. But still Angron gets thumbs up for being "active", while the others get flakk for being lazy. I wonder why?

BY killing a SW chaptermaster and fething up their geneseed Magnus saturated his quest for vengance....just he and TS got pummeled pretty hard in the process...
Again, attacking undefended fort and losing in the end - - what a ploncker...He probably asks himself "what now?" And his deamonic true name is "Betty"...

For me Mortarion had even worse fate - he has been a victim of a bad writing...feth you Matty...I can never accept that....

Lorgar is a mystery for me - I would like to see him soon...

Angron is Angron - when he wants to kill, he will come out....

ADB: I showed the Wolves revealing the key weakness at the heart of the World Eaters; showing Angron that his Legion was broken and worthless compared to the others; that he was the one primarch who couldn't trust his own warriors, and that they didn't care if he lived or died; showing that loyalty to brothers and sons is the heart of success for the Legiones Astartes, to the point even Lorgar makes a big deal out of saying the World Eaters and their primarch were massively outclassed by Russ, and Angron was too stupid to see the lesson Russ had sacrificed time, sweat, and blood, to teach. We're talking about a battle the Wolves won, by isolating the enemy general through pack tactics, and threatening to kill him, without a hope of defending himself. It was a balance, 50/50 - Angron overpowered Russ, and the Wolves were losing ground to the World Eaters; but Russ and his warriors had Angron by the balls, and barely broke a sweat. They won, no question. Lorgar even says: "The Wolves won, meathead."

QFT.

BL should be very careful about who they let write Primarchs. As far as I'm concerned, only Aaron Dembski-Bowden is currently qualified.

Perturabo has turned several planets into fortresses since the Heresy, and currently rules over one.

Fulgrim is rumoured to rule a planet of infinite pleasures debasements, though no Marine, Inquisitor or anyone else who has gone looking for him has ever returned IIRC.

I think he changed it to this -

He is now the primarch formally known as Magnus.
His new battle cry is 'pronounce this!'

Hence his true name not working in battle of the fang.

Why do you think Lorgar's been hiding in a tower for 10,000 years?

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

The reason given for Lorgar being in his tower in Sicarius is hes been in a state of meditation and forbidden anyone from disturbing him. Keep in mind it hasn't been 10,000 years for him, only a few centuries. Though that's still a long time to meditate....

Of course since they've probably returned for the 13th Black Crusade I imagine he awoke from his meditation to lead his forces.

Time is definetly slower in the Eye of Terror, I've never heard of a traitor Astartes who thinks its been 100,000 years. Every one seems to more or less remember the Heresy freshly.

The GW line seems to be that time flows 'differently' in the warp. There could concievably be daemon worlds where another 10'000 years have gone by.
