Great stuff guys. I unfortunately only had time for a quick in and out of the store yesterday. I found my washer and got out. And of course it's too big :( I have resin bases that these go on the bottom to make them a bit more bottom heavy and I add a magnet in the center for my carrying case.
@BD that electrical box would look great on top of PVC pipe as the top of a tower. Add some sort of ladder and/or a door at the bottom and done!

Very nice pipe! (how often do you hear that on the internet?)
Slow progress today. Ordered some extra Pegasus sets to get more parts for messing with the electrical boxes. All I have is the Chemical Plant set, so I got the two different platform sets to get more pieces.
For the actual table all I did today was adding a coat of paint:
Simple brown color with sand texture poured into the paint and mixed in. I didn't have a brush handy so I just poured a healthy amount on the table and used a spare roller to spread it around. I tried to go crazy with twisting and swirling it around to get more randomness in the texture.

Coat of paint is dry, texture ended up looking good. Seems like a fast and cheap way to do a table.

Hope no one minds me barging in with a piece of cheap terrain. Technically this has nothing to do with a DIY store but it was fairly cheap. Using just some bits from an old windscreen wiper and some plasticard (tube and sheet) I've been able to throw together a nice walkway suitable for being placed between two buildings or maybe used as a small bridge over a river.
I will admit it's very plain at the moment as I've not had a chance to detail it but here is anyway:
And being used as a walkway between a WIP building and an old carboard box with some models on it for scale purposes:
Hope this gives somebody some ideas for similar structures.

Has anyone encountered good textured wall paper? It seems wallpaper is not popular anymore. All I could find is smooth textures or it was too uniform.

to texture a building, I would get some cheap builders sand and some white paint , mix them and undercoat and then spray over , instead of that textured can stuff..
dont forget stacked yoghurt/butter pots as well will make interesting tower terrain.
I like this vinyl walkway looking stuff.

Thank for the tip about home depot. I went from no infinity terrain to 30 buildings and bridges, with walls for only $60. The material paints up fast and looks scifi. great post. I saved time and lots of money.

Just an update and thanks a ton on this terrain, tested my first round of terrain last night and it was a raving success. Those electrical boxes turned out great and the PVP pipe with the rebar risers looked fantastic. I got a 10" section of 2" PVC cut into 5 two foot sections for about $6. Got joints for about 97 cents and the risers for 2.70ish for 20. Put it all together and I now have a huge pipeline that goes through the board that is lifted 2" off the ground and totally jacks with high level LoS.
Once I get further along I'll post pictures as a thank you and continue this fantastically inspirational thread.

Sounds great, so the 2" pipe fits into the round openings on the risers?

Any chance of pics of that - it sounds great, and I'd like to replicate it, but I'm a visual learner so... hook a brother up!
Please!

haha not even close since the risers hole is like 1/4". However it did rest in the groove on top quite nicely and with about 4-5 risers per 2' section it was rather stable. I will however be looking for a way to melt/modify the raisers to fit it. I have some crazy ideas up my sleeve that I need to see if pan out before I post up pics. If it works how I see it in my head this could get really epic real fast with very little work.

You need to check out smaller paint/decor stores to find any variety these days.
For smaller areas of texture check out dollar store sandpaper. Use it as is, or beat it up a bit to get a decent concrete/asphalt texture.

What about contact paper or shelf liner stuff? That stuff comes textured sometimes and costs way less than wallpaper I bet.

They are homebrew models, used a mix of Catachan and Empire Zealots to make a preacher cult. Didn't want to pull out the infinity models just to take a picture.
I think the terrain will be generic enough for Infinity and Necromunda and I could probably use it for 40K as well.
Probably stretching it a bit for Warmahordes though...

I neglect my P&M blog anyway. Haven't updated my general P&M blog in forever, when I do paint I usually update the one in the DCM section instead, and I haven't included any of my FOW or terrain stuff in that one. I'm bad at sharing In unrelated news: I picked up some cheap plants at Pet Smart today.

First on the list was some pipelines!
And by pipelines I mean 1/2 inch PVC pipe and fittings. 2 foot of pipe cost $1 and the fittings are anywhere between $0.50 and $1.50. I cut the pipe into smaller sections to see what they would look like running across the table:
may I suggest

To go with them
Still needs more scatter terrain. But with some paint I think I have the start of something fun.

Its hard to be awesome, when your playing with little plastic men.
Welcome to Fantasy 40k
If you think your important, in the great scheme of things. Do the water test.
Put your hands in a bucket of warm water,
then pull them out fast. The size of the hole shows how important you are.
I think we should roll some dice, to see if we should roll some dice, To decide if all this dice rolling is good for the game.

Very nice, will have to pick up a few of these. Automatically Appended Next Post: Did a quick test shot to see how the buildings look after being hit with automotive primer and placed on the table.
I'm going to shoot for finishing up one building a day, I think that is a decent rate of progress for gluing some plastic on some electrical boxes.
