The Ork codex is fine as it is.

It could be made better, and likely will. But as far as actual structure its held up very well dispite its age.

The only thing I would change would be to make Lootas HS and Flash Gits Elites.

Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

It was released in August '98, WD 235, got it right here. Decade-long wait; I just died when I saw a pre-release copy of the current book. We needed it back then.

You're wrong. 40k 3rd ed. was released in October 1998 (I should know for 2 reasons, I got into the game 6 months prior and it came out on my brother's birthday. 3 guesses as to what he got) and the Ork codex followed in July 1999. It is NOT the 10 years people keep claiming.

List of current Warhammer 40,000 Codex by release date:
6th Edition (2012)
Chaos Space Marines: September 2012

5th Edition (2008)
Necrons November: 2011 (Made with 6th in mind.)
Sisters of Battle: August/September 2011 (Made with 6th in mind.)
Grey Knights April: 2011 (Made with 6th in mind.)
Dark Eldar November: 2010
Blood Angels April: 2010
Tyranids January: 2010
Space Wolves October: 2009
Imperial Guard: May 2009
Space Marines: October 2008

4th Edition (2004)
Chaos Daemons: May 2008 (Made with 5th in mind.)
Orks: January 2008 (Made with 5th in mind.)
Chaos Space Marines: September 2007 (Made with 5th in mind?)
Dark Angels: March 2007
Eldar: November 2006
Tau Empire: March 2006
Black Templars: November 2005

At only 4 years and 1.5 editions old (1.5 because it was made for 5th as it were), and considering it still has numerous viable builds (as well as new units added) it's far from being in dire need.

Black Templars and Tau deserve it next, and Dark Eldar had to wait 12 years ( Codex released 1998, minor update, basically including the FAQ and 2? variant units in 2003. ) so 4 years is nothing, and certainly way too early to start claiming 'will they ever.'

Orks are up after Daemons, Dark Angels, Tau, and Eldar. Unless GW decides to put vanilla Marines in between Tau and Eldar, which they probably will.

Of all the un-updated armies they're probably in the least desperate need for an update, which is why GW is doing them last.

Fixed that for you!

I fail to see why anyone thinks the Nids are underpowered, don't get me wrong maybe the codex isn't as good as it could have been but it can more than hold it's own and doesn't need updating nearly as bad as several other codices.

Also the Orks book should be within the next 2 years I'd assume, looking full next year with Tau, Eldar and I've read varying other rumours from Daemons to Marines not to mention the Hobbit/Fantasy stuff to fill those gaps. Although this is all specualtion I've no hard evidence obviously just the same rumours.

As an Ork player I'm happy with the codex we have now, I'm not bursting for a new book as the current one is decent enough and holds well, but a new book would be awesome don't get me wrong
