Yeah that seemed strange to me too. I thought all skimmers were fast. Well besides the monolith.

Well, the potential range is 30 inches per turn. That's enough.

i believe the only fast vehicle in the cron list is the CCB and fliers. everything else is just a skimmer or heavy. or flier...

Flyers don't have a "fast" designation.
but yes, the CCB is the only fast vehicle we have.

Further advice/warnings on the MSS
Glad to hear you got around it turn 1, but be aware it's not an avoidance tactic, it's a delay tactic. He'll figure out pretty quick to either not accept the challenge on the turn you charge. Yes, this removes his hits against your unit, removing that S7 Warscythe, but if you don't break him, then it's MSS time. Something that is catching on is putting a Chronometron in 1-2 units to help with the LD test and not break.
If you feel that you're going to get charged, while not likely but possible with Phaerons running around, keep your Character in the back. Characters can't accept challenges if they aren't engaged (P.64), even Chaos Marines. This also applies if you are assaulting a large unit that contains something that can take the hits (ie. anything with a Phase Shifter), if you can hit the unit in a way to keep his character unengaged then there is no challenge. I learned this one from a Chaos Marine player who take Axe of Blind Fury. He doesn't want to be in a challenge, he wants to be hitting standard guys.
Something else to be wary of is Everliving. If a model is downed, and makes his RP roll he isn't in a challenge. So if you forget to re-issue the challenge if you down'd him on your turn, you could also be in trouble a bit.
That's all I got - Good luck with everything.
