I fething HATE KotOR 2. As I posted in another topic a while back, KotOR 2 has the "honor" of being the worst game I have ever played. I hated almost everything about it.
...But it's the *exact* same as KOTOR 1, but with a few added skills and extra lightsaber stuff.
Testify, you're going to find some people have really high expectations that are so high they're not grounded in any sort of reality, I feel sorry for video-game developers these days who know there products will never be good and will be considered overrated at best.
...I fething loved KOTOR 2, and KOTOR 1. I have very fond memories of playing them.
Sorry if this doesn't fit your picture of me
The post wasn't targeted at you but for someone to say that KOTOR 2 is the worst game that they have played is just plain hyperbole.

Well you cant be talking about me because I actually keep a decently low expectations for games.
example, games I liked that most people seem to hate
Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo Wars, Warhammer Mark of Chaos, C&C 3, Red Alert 3, EndWar, Shattered Union, Soulstorm, Dark Crusade, Space Marine, Starcarft 2, the SINGLE PLAYER of Black Ops/Modern Warfare/MW2.
Those are all popular games. Especially Halo 2/3 and starcraft 2. I also can't help but notice none of those are RPGs.

Well, other than the fact that KOTOR 1 was actually finished before release...
I found the gameplay and story of KOTOR 2 just fine... aside from the dead-end story side-arcs that didn't go anywhere because they never wrote those bits. And the ending was just sort of tacked on at the last minute.

Okay my bad lol.
Well Im actually careful about the games I buy. I dont buy a game unless Im sure Im going to like it. So for me personally its actually easy to say that. KotOR 2 is one of like 4 games I own that I can say that I dont actually like (C&C 4 is one of those) and of those 4 its one of two I would say that I actually dislike. (Morrowind is the other. To be fair I played Oblivion first so I simply didnt see the appeal of the game, I just played it too many years after the fact, even than I mainly felt bored with the game) This just happens to mean it is the worst game I have ever played lol.
Those are all popular games. Especially Halo 2/3 and starcraft 2. I also can't help but notice none of those are RPGs
They are popular but they do seem to get a lot of flak, especially Halo and Starcraft for not being equal to the original. I enjoyed all those games and felt it was including them because they do get a lot of flak and for the most part I wonder what the fans expected from those games. (In Halo 2s case, the fans probably wanted the demo gameplay that we were shown lol. That video was AWSOME looking)
As for the RPG thing, ya I dont actually play too many RPGs, KotOR was my first RPG. The next RPG I played was Oblivion and Mass Effect (ive loved all 3 of them)

KOTOR 1 is great. KOTOR 2 not so much. There's no ending to the game.

The ending of KOTOR2 is the only real downside to the game. I reloaded it the first time I beat it because of that. I thought it glitched or I missed something

Honestly, the KOTOR 2 hate confuses me.
I enjoyed KOTOR one and two, both were good games and great fun.
for $5, it's a good bargain and well worth it, and will certainly waste plenty of hours. (I think I picked them up in a similar deal last christmas.)

Originally, no there was no real ending to KOTOR2 as it was rushed out to get it in stores for ...... Christmas!
Fortunately a whole lot of the material WAS still included in the coding and a group of people have finally finished working on it.
Point your browser at The Sith Lords Restored Content Mod young Padawan, and see how (almost) Obsidian meant it to be.
Note: This does nothing to improve the graphics, it does help some known bugs but mainly it restores content that was stripped from the pathing but had coding left in the PC version of the game.

"Ask ten different scientists about the environment, population control, genetics, and you'll get ten different answers, but there's one thing every scientist on the planet agrees on. Whether it happens in a hundred years or a thousand years or a million years, eventually our Sun will grow cold and go out. When that happens, it won't just take us. It'll take Marilyn Monroe, and Lao-Tzu, and Einstein, and Morobuto, and Buddy Holly, and Aristophanes…then all of this…all of this…was for nothing. Unless we go to the stars." I played KotOR2 at launch and it had some frustrating glitches. That said, I remember it being extremely compelling story-wise ... up until the so-called "ending," which was utter garbage. The game is worth playing otherwise, however.
I think KotOR 1 is so beloved because it went beyond the movies and managed to completely capture the "feeling" of SW. You have to remember, that game came out in the wake of Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones when a lot of big SW fans (myself included) were wondering if SW had any magic left in it.

I hate all endings to things in general, and games specifically; concequently having a rubbish ending doesn't really put me off.

Now that I think about it I think KOTOR might be my favorite SW story.
