Direct contact with the cashier and a box of chicken nuggets does not cost 90$*. *price if GW owned McDonalds.

I kept it, spent an hour with a dremil and green stuff fixing the miss casts and it's assembled now, I'll consider it as a loyalty gift for the thousands of pounds I've spent on GW and FW products in the past 15 years and feel better about GW prices for at least the next few months.

I think the fact someone is considering this a moral dilemma is hilarious.
Imagine their view on cloning or abortion.

Cloning all for it, and stem cell science, abortion sure, necessary in some cases, this is a moral dilema because I've been sent something I don't even need, I have 2 contemptor mortis dreads already and the 3rd is completely superfluous just seemed greedy to keep something i didn't even want.

I don't think this is a moral dilemma in the theoretical.
I think this is a moral dilemma in the practical. Like, if the OP had asked if she should sleep with his girlfriend's sister, when she's made it clear she would, and his girlfriend has cheated on him before.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there - it depends on what your perceived value of the item is in terms of whether or not you would feel obliged to return it. At one of the scale (a McDonalds Nugget) obviously not, at the other end ($50) most people would.
In this case: These things are made for pennies each (or cents in the US), and as it's a miscast anyway I think that pretty much answers the OP's query as to what you should do.

I'm perfectly capable of my own decisions I just wanted to see what others here thought, I was sure most here would keep it too, which is what I did, the decision was made instantly easier when I discovered they had sent me yet another misscast model, until that point I was going to give it back to GW on my next visit, though I sure the guy at the store would have kept it for his own personal use like the first one I returned.

They probably will, knowing how good their customer service is. Say what you want about their prices but once you decide to buy their products and become a customer their customer service is spot on.

I've been sent not one but 2 rather expensive replacement forgeworld models after returning a defective model to a GW store.
Now with my feelings of being ripped off by GW it seems ever so tempting to keep the 2nd replacement but it also feels dishonest.
So what would you guys do if you found yourself in my situation?
Aye they probably did it on purpose.... happily keep the fether, no guilt necessary.
I bought 5 corvus armoured Marines off Forge world last year, they left one sprue out and I was shy two legs, I wasn't even going to bother saying anything cos I've got some spares, but after reading how good their after care is, I thought "feth it, ill drop them a quick email" and I got another full order, that's all five marines in the mail a week later.
As has been mentioned, you can slag them off for their prices, but not their effort after they make a sale, its pretty hard to mistake "one" for "two" on an invoice, so I would presume the packer was instructed to shove you a spare in for good measure.

It's not about FW. This is about you.
Don't blame your actions on them, their prices, or anything else.
If you want to be a moral person and take the high road, you return it.
If you don't care, keep it, but that's your decision, and not anyone else.
Smart move would be to try for both. Call them up and let them know. Chances are they'll say keep it. But if they ask for a return, do the right thing and return it. Automatically Appended Next Post: Mike712 wrote: gunslingerpro wrote:I think the only Moral quandry is thus:

Ah, should have read farther to see that you 'instantly' failed the morality check, and justified it with the "but everyone else would do it" fallacy.

After reading through all but the last few posts I fail to see how much one likes or doesn't like a company, or how much an item costs, affects a moral choice. The little things are nothing more than equivocations. The real moral choice is whether it is right to keep something(on the sly) that one party obviously didn't mean to give out.
Reading this thread makes me feel ashamed.

Keep your shame to yourself then.
Morals are NOT universal and what someone else's morals are or are not are no business of anyone but themself.

False.
Your sense of morals affect other people precisely because they inform your actions. Perfect example, this thread. If we make a deal on dakka and I accidentally send you something outside of the prearranged deal without knowing it, you simply keeping it does affect me, whether you feel like admitting it or not.
And furthermore, to claim someone shouldn't publicly say an action or idea shames them is absurd. It shames me when homophobic people spout off hateful things, it shames me when someone verbally abuses their wife in public, it shames me when people steal things from others, and it shames me when some people are so incredibly flippant about giving advice to underhandedly keep something that isn't theirs.
In this case, you are simply saying I should keep my shame to myself because you happen to not agree in this circumstance. Don't be absurd.

As has been stated previously, it comes down to a matter of personal guidance. I have always informed GW staffers when i've got a freebie somewhere and in turn i've always received good customer service when i've had bits missing or damaged. This also extends to FW who i have always informed of errors and in return gained untold extra parts through open and honest communication.
As pointed out by many users, FW/GW often let people keep miscast parts when they replace them along with some incorrectly sent items should the value be low. Personally i feel it would be fair to inform FW of the oversight on their behalf but also attach picture evidence backing up your claim that one of the replacement parts was infact miscast. This gives FW the opportunity to make a fully informed decision and keep your moral compass clean.
Tell them, it may be that there is a control issue that needs addressing in their picking/packing department and without feedback of the oversight it may go unnoticed. You will get to keep the part unless it has a value over £50 or so and even then you never know.

It feels dishonest because it is dishonest. Integrity is not dictated by how others treat you, but how you respond despite whatever outside influences say, do, intend, whether good or bad. Rationalizing poor behavior is lying to yourself, which is the worst and most harmful type of dishonesty.
