Here comes some anti air support for the regiment!! I mounted a part of the Aegis cannon to the sentinel, which might be a bit oversized....but I like it :-)

The autocannon isn't to big, although the sentinal does look as if it has just tripped on an invisble gnome. Other than that everything else looks great

Looks like I captured the moment just before the Sentinel is starting to fall after stumbling over the invisible gnome
Next time I will mount the torso higher on the legs, thanks for your feedback!!

Back on stage :-)
I used May and June for some terrain building exercises, as I decided to use the AoP campaing as a good reason to start which also includes a defined timeline what I find very helpful. The topic should be an imperial manufactorum/fabric (Fab 51) which is producing imperial tanks like Salamanders. This should fit to my current Thanatos troops which will be placed on the board. I had a terrain building starter set from a german model railroad supplier which I want to use for this. It contains all materials needed to create a mountain landscape. And why not add some railroad tracks :-) The 28mm models have a scale of about 1:64 so I looked for some tracks which might fit this and ended up at the so called Spur 0 in Germany which is around 1:45.

Here are some pictures of the planning and first steps:

Time to prepare the ground for the plaster and setup the roller shutter

After the plastering, the mountain and the doors need to be build

Lets get ready for plastering!!!

And then base coat the whole thing

Let's drybrush....

Really nice stuff in here. It's cool to see someone modeling/painting for the joy of it and not having to worry about model's being game legal and WYSIWYG.

Nice work, keep it up.

Here is the finally painted terrain which is now only missing some additional small pieces like barrels, etc...
In addition there will be a freight car on the railroad tracks which may carry a Salamander tank.

After the excursion into terrain building I returned to my Space Marines left on my painting waitlist. I decided to start big and at last finish my land raider I assembled quite a while ago.

Now X-Mas is nearly over and I hope to get some time to finish my small diorama I started a while ago. Here is a first WIP snapshot. The second figure on the diorama will be an IG commissar heroically aiming at the nid :-)

As always looking great. Do you have any tips for creating the depressions in your diorama? I'm possibly going to enter Armies on Parade and want to do recesses for all my bases.

Hi Young Logan,

thanks for the positive feedback. I used a circle cutter like this http://www.pk-pro.de/navi.php?a=847&lang=eng& for the holes for the bases. This worked well as I only need to cut a small MDF basis. If you use wood or plasic as basis for the whole diorama or AOP scenery this will not work. Sorry, but I have no experience for this scenario :-(

I like the pattern on the land speeder. I've got similar colors for my marines, and was trying to work out how else to paint them to distinguish them.... I'm also surprised by that commissar model, it looks much better than I anticipated that model looking.

Really liking the tunnel entrance mostly as I did something similar in Epic although mine were far cruder. The Salamander is brilliant where did you source the internal detail?

Wow, thank you all for the positive feedback. This is a great motivation for me!!

@EyeOfDC: To be honest I didn't think about the base when I created the model. I think this is the original base from the WFB Ogre.

@Llamahead: Most of the internal details are from various IG kits and the operator console is from a Rhino. It was great fun to build the Salamander as I like the original model very much.

Some weeks ago I started a kitbash upgrading a Stormlord superheavy with Manticor rockets :-)
Here is my primed WIP:

When I worked on it last weekend my daughter (6) joined me and asked if she might also paint a vehicle...and I gave her a rhino that was primed some time back in 2013.
She loved it and I enjoyed our "teamwork", here is her result:

Here is a model I stumbled over and found it a must have
This is not a GW model as you for sure already have noticed but I have to buy it as i saw it. I'm thinking about using her as commissar for my IG army or maybe as inquisitor. By the way, I think her name should be Olga!

Actually, her name is Ivanka. Olga is her older sister. She's one of the Kurganova sisters from Raging Heroes. Good choice, though. If you're interested, the same company has released three full ranges of all-female IG in not-Cadian, not-Catachan, and not-Krieg flavors.

Dang. That rhino the tyke painted looks better than the ones I've seen painted by adults. The sad part in this is that I am not kidding. I also like that you did that. I encounter too many snobbish attitudes, so it was a nice change to see that.

This infantry regiment is my new project I just started.
After painting some Space Marines (Ultarmarines and Deathwatch http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/images-66649-30456_Deathwatch.html) I now switched to Imperial Guard and decided to use the Cadian models as basis.

The regiment is from the planet Thanatos. The name is from the greek mythology and was the name of the god of death. His symbol was the scythe so the banner of the regiment contains the reaper as you can see on my avatar.
The main colors of the regiment are black and yellow.

In the novel "Know no fear" the landspeeder is used as heavy weapon platform for foot troops. When I read this I thought about my landspeeder storm still available form the mega box last year.
In combination with the heavy bolters I still had from the IG Valkure I decided to use the storm as a heavy weapon platform too, but this time for the Imperial Guard.

I used the legs from the scout pilot and added some cadian torso on top. One gun man should hold the heavy bolter in his hands, the other should use some binoculars to look for the next target.
My first approach was to also equip the speeder with the missle launcher pod from the valkure but I skipped this later.
