FireWarriors?!

Shocking unit. No CC ability, terrible leadership and, yeah, their guns are Str 5 with a 30" range but they have an AP of 5, therefore all shots bounce off everything wearing baco-foil.

My favourite has to be the much maligned LandSpeeder Squadron. 3 jinxing, turbo boosting, late game objective clearing, bringers of flame. Arm them with twin Heavy Flamers and watch them scare the bejeezus out of your opponents rank and file.
Or, equip them with a Multi-Melta in place of a Heavy Flamer and watch them zzzap vehicles of all kinds, then cook the remnants inside the burning remains of that once great Land Raider......

Also Typhus with zombie horde as well because who doesn't like zombies especially when you have an endless horde of them

In granting those who oppose me death I am giving them the mercy of Nurgle.
Releasing my enemies from the bonds of fear and oppression , from the shame of betrayal, I preform a kindness I erase contempt, regret, sorrow, insanity all the burdens of life, embrace death and be free or reject Nurgles gift and be destroyed.

If they have Powerklaws the enemy might as well have cardboard armour and laser pointers.
Except for the aforementioned TH/SS Terminators. A 3++ invuln is really nice, and the Meganobz just do not stack up.

And to note, that is one of the only weaknesses a 2 wound 2+ armor model for 40 pts costs us... not a bad deal in the least. And also why would these units fight I would sooner paper cut you to death with 30 boyz before my mega nobz especially if they're in a BW to start only rule of thumb is avoid instant death ap2 weaponry.

Point-for-point, I'm gonna have to say Grey Hunters. They're MEQ, cheap, scoring, good in CC and can be equipped to deal with tanks. What more could you want?

Purifiers deserve mentioning but I feel they get slightly edged out by the Hunters because they require Crowe to unlock as troops.

There are some great ICs out there but things like precision shots/strikes and challenges, plus their basic points-per-wound cost-inefficiency compared to normal infantry units keeps them out of the running in regards to point-for-point value.

Grey Hunters or some Necron unit.

The Ork Shoota boy comes close, but lacks the versatility that the above two have.

Grey Hunters just have everything that's good for a bargain price and extra options. Too damn good to ignore.

Necrons in general are just insane, and you could make the case of being the best unit in the game for a lot of options in the codex.

Wow, I cannot believe nobody has mentioned Chaos Daemons Flamers of Tzeentch.

23 points, 2 wounds, 4 statline, jump infantry, drop flame templates that wound anything on a 4+ (vehicle and infantry alike) and ignore armor. If they are out of range for that, they still get 3 shots apiece at S4 AP4. 5+ invuln save, cause Fear, have eternal warrior, fearless, must I go on?

Celestine is the best IC and the most cost effective overall point value in the game.

Doom is the most cost effective non-IC model

Demon Flamers are the most cost effective unit composed of more than 1 model. Wraiths are a close 2nd, but flamers now have EW thanks to the FAQ which makes them even harder to kill at range while maintaining that stupid overwatch.

Yeah I would say the basic grey hunter, still can't believe they are cheaper than ultrasmerf marines (who they are better than), are one of the most point to ability effective. However I still maintain the tervigon, can have psychic powers to massively buff him and his units, has amazing toughness and resilience and can spawn masses and I mean masses of termingants. What's not to love? He's also very cost effective and can totally swing the momentum in low point games.

Hel one of them and mabye one unit of hormagaunts could hold up an entire flank easily in a 3000 point game!

Flamers of Tzeentch can honestly wipe any unit that is their points equivalent bar fliers. They are ridiculously broken. Termies, hordes, ICs, Tanks, AV 14, anything that they can touch, they can kill. It is kind of broken. 23 points for a model that usually gets it's point value doubled back or even tripled if you run them in big squads. 207 points (9 flamers) gets you so much bang for your buck. Jump infantry that has eternal warrior, fearless, t4, 2 wounds, 5+ invuln, and each has a flamer that wounds ignoring all saves except invulnerable on a 4+, glancing on a 4+, as well as you get a S4 AP4 Assault 3 18" gun at BS4 if you are out of range of your flamers. That right there is purely better than a boltgun. That coupled with the thought that they can only be reliably killed by taking them out with shooting, and it will take much more than 200 points worth of shooting to take them out. They will on average inflict a wound that ignores armor and cover per flamer each time you charge them. Charging a full squad means 9 wounds that can only be saved by invulns, not charging them means that they will flame the living piss out of you next turn.

Looking at them overall, if they get in their kill range (which they usually do because they are jump infantry), they will easily get their points back in value, They are a unit that can wipe 1-2 units per turn with 18 wounds always getting a 5+ save. And they don't need to be at full strength to get their points back. All it takes would be maybe 3-4+ flamers and any unit is pretty much toast. All for the points cost of 5 terminators...

I think that would be the best unit in the game at the moment

The only times I've ever seen this the story always goes the same way:

1.) doom shows up, offs a few infantry models, puffs up to W10.

2.) doom is immediately killed by a meltagun or a lascannon in return.

Without eternal warrior, the doom is pants.

Well yes they have warp quake, but deep strike them father away and they will still get in their kill range within a turn or two. And the GK interceptor/strike squads don't have nearly enough shooting to kill them. The only thing they can do is prevent the flamers from getting at them for another turn.

You missed a step. 2 is 'drops a S10 ordnance template on a juicy target'. Spirit Leech is done at the start of the shooting phase. It can still leech to charge then drop a template all on one turn. It's basically a ~150pt nuke when in a mycetic spore. Then it gets instant killed by a random melta gun.

The Imperial Guard Infantry Platoon.

Technically in the game terms, it is "one unit" for everything except commands.

With the ability to field 55 Guardsmen, 15 Heavy Weapons (assuming you don't put any in IS), 2 SWS with 3 SW's each (again, assuming you don't put any SW in IS), and 50 Conscripts that can respawn you can basically fight anything with the hefty price of around 1000 points for a full platoon XD

But really, if that doesn't count than I have to say Vendetta's if only because they are so damn cheap for what they do (even better if combined with Meltavets)

Edit: Doing the math, a Platoon with ALL the units possible with ALL the upgrades (like, ALL of them. Commissars, Voxes, Meltabombs, and Chimeras with all of their upgrades too) and most expensive weapons comes out to 2755 points! Woot....

8 storm bolter shots and a Psycannon can easily take out 4 Flamers. 3 die to the first turns shooting and the remaining one dies after killing 1-2 GK's.

I have done it, as that is a favorite unit of an opponent of mine.

3 die? It is possible for three to die, but in one turn of shooting you are only inflicting half of that on average. Let's look at points equivalent, 5 interceptors with a psycannon is 110, while 5 flamers are 115 points. With only a 24" range on thier guns, you are looking at a turn of shooting before the flamers can flame the GK squad. 8 shots from storm bolters add up to 5.3 hits, which adds up to about two wounds. Add in the 5+ invuln, that's only 1.7 unsaved wounds. 4 heavy shots from the psycannon is 2.6 hits, 2.2 wounds, and 1.4 unsaved wounds. Adding both of those up for a total of 3.2 wounds. That's only one dead with another having a wound left. Then the remaining four flamers (for points equivalent) will then proceed to kill 4-5 GKs, assuming they can all hit 2 people with their flamers, which is quite a liberal estimate. I just don't see them being a match for flamers.

I'm not sure about easily.

8 Str5 shots.
4 Str7 shots.

6 hits, 3hits, about.
4-5 wound,2-3 wound. We'll say 7 wounds. Than they get a 5++. That will negate 2 of those, and bam only killin 2.5.
