So many on here have said "laz-gun" meaning...what?

LazZ or LazE???

I say "laze" as in short for 'laser'...the only thing that makes sense. You wouldn't shorten robot to 'boot' - it's a 'bot!

Yeah, it's SUPPOSED to be pronounced lays-gun, it being a laser.

That said, it always sounds too dorky to my ears, which is why I do lazz-gun. Euphonia for the win!

Wait, I think you just changed my mind! We all know DoW is the gold-standard for the correct pronunciation of everything in 40K. That's why I'm thinking about starting a spess mahreens army of the blud rehvens chapter, so that I can fight for the gloareh of the EMPRAH. Clearly, it must be lassguns...

Unless Grey Templar meant to spell it Laté, which makes it lazz again

This might be my answer, if I ever actually had cause to say it out loud. "Lazz" just sounds better, to me, but makes less sense than "laze," so I tend to bounce back and forth when pronouncing it in my head. I'm a fickle creature.

It's "lazz-gun" - and I can offer a number of reasons why.

1) it's pronounced this way whenever it turns up in licensed GW videogames (Space Marine also references the "lazz-cannon").
2) it's a British game, and I notice the other British posters are agreeing with me.
3) ...dammit, it's our language as well. Grey, not gray, even if it does make more sense that way. *slaps all the US wrists in the thread so far*

I pronounce it lazz-gun as that's how it's usually pronounced in the video games, also laze-gun sounds like it fires chips.

I have a peanut allergy. It's really inconsiderate.

While I voted for LAZZ since that's the most obvious to me, I really think the quote is relevant. You can't be wrong pronouncing a made-up word. Logic is hardly something the English language uses when it comes to spelling and pronunciation.

Some of the disagreement here is due to pronunciation differences from other countries. The easiest way to figure this out is to say "Laser" now say "Gun" now say both together but take out the "er" in between.
