Also totally dig the Patlabor stuff, I've built several model kits from it. They're all excellent designs.
As far as live action movies go, Robocop wasn't bad for a western attempt at mechs. But District 9 had a really brilliant design and the scenes where the guy was kicking ass with it were quite epic. And the rest of the movie sucked heh.
I was wondering how long till battletech turned up. Since there are two main groups with giant robots, I would go with 1 of each. The blackjack is one of my favs form the same verce as the timberwolf.
The knoghtmares from code geass are some of my favorites too, some look dam cool and practical compared to other mechs in anime, especially the mechs from the eurounion.
This one is the PanzerHummel, which despite being just being standard issue has been holding the line for the last 3 years
The Rayleonard Aaliyah from Armored Core 4/for answer definitely ranks high on my list. So very sleek, beautiful, and deadly.
It's just such an awesome mech. You really need to see it in action to appreciate.
In AC4, it was an absolute dream to pilot. Fast as hell while still being agile, could handle a solid payload of weaponry, and had very effective shielding. The arms couldn't aim to save your life and were piss-poor at handling energy weapons, but made up for it by being very maneuverable in close ranges.
It's only glaring weakness was that it used energy like crazy.
Diaclone was (dinobots/cars/lorries) and Microchange (minibots+equipment tf's -soundwave, megatron etc)
Jetfire was a macross mold and Shockwave was Toyco.
Not that Hasbro cheated...
Its because ordinance is still a word.
However, firing ordinance at someone isn't nearly as threatening as firing ordnance at someone.
Ordinance is a local law, or bill, or other form of legislation.
Ordnance is high caliber explosives.
No 'I' in ordnance.
Don't drown the enemy in legislation, drown them in explosives.
As iconic as Nineball is, I'd say that as far as classic AC goes, it's the Crest flagship AC's that really get my favour. Dualface makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Although as badass as it looks, it's worth noting that, in game, it's actually overweight. The frame itself is actually quite nice, for what it's worth.

I'll go with Hammerstain from the Judge Dredd movie, 'cos even though he is the least cool ABC Warrior, he is the only one who has made it onto the big screen.
Joe Pineapples, Deadlock, Blackblood, even Mongrol are all cooler. Hell, even Mek-Quake is cooler. Joe Pineapples though, he's the daddy. I mean, he shoots people on the surface of a planet, from orbit, by taking deflection shots!!
Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

Additionally, Yoji Shinkawa is an amazing artist, and everything he designs deserves some specific mention, but Anubis deserves some special attention. Such an amazing mech. The only thing that could possibly surpass it is Jehuty.
The robots from Robot Jox are the classic go-to robots for me. I think Pacific Rim may add some cool robots, though.
"By this point I'm convinced 100% that every single race in the 40k universe have somehow tapped into the ork ability to just have their tech work because they think it should."
The Martian Tripods in Spielberg's War of The Worlds pretty much stole the show. Equal parts elegant and creepy.
I also happen to love the Invid walkers from Robotech, mostly out of nostalgia, as it was the first anime (not counting Mazinger Z and French/Japanese co-productions like Ulysse XXXI) that I ever watched.
War does not determine who is right - only who is left.
my other favorite is the Daimos but their arn't any nice pictures of that. Their! I like both IS and Clan mechs as long as they have autocannons from arms
Light, low and easily overheated, it was still the most rewarding of all mechs to master in Mechwarrior II.
Step 1 : Aim for the enemy cockpit. Step 2 : Alpha Strike (don't miss!!) Step 3 : Watch the enemy mech burst from inside Step 4 : Go home without a scratch on your hull.
