Same here my friend, but when im painting 200 furry little critters, im going to get bored at some point

May be a nice chance to pick up a spare box and add in a few small diorama's as space fillers.

Atleast in the unit of slaves i could have a fighting pit or a ring, should kill some space haha.

specially with skaven this kind of painting strategy makes the most sense... sounds like a good plan...

you could also make a big chunk of cheese to be inbetween the hordes^^

Love the horns and needy red eyes , shaven were my first love for fantasy. I began naming each one after a type of cheese, luckily there was a wine and cheese shop in the same mall as my game store.

Vik, im liking the cheese idea
Going to have 2 stormvermin holding the warlord up on a plinth, i may actually make it a cheese wheel instead

Thanks Theophony
Allways loved skaven, just wish i never sold my old skaven army now.

Thanks panda

Supply drop in finally!

40 stormvermin
20 more clanrats
Warp lightning cannon
Doomwheel

However, this will take long enough to put together since i need to do it with painting in mind.
Got the cannon and 10 storms together, just need to find the will/sanity to finish the other 70 models and the pain in the arse to assmble doomwheel.

Thanks vik

Update at last!

Finally got it finished, and finally decided to paint crew seperate for once, and it paid off straight away.
Just need to find a way of painting to tabletop standard, but alot quicker as this was done over the course of a week.

And thats it finished and on to the next skaven unit.
Really was tempted to change the colour of the wood in places to try and break it up a bit, but didnt want it too stand out too much as i cant the gun and the crew to grab attention, not the framework.
C&C appreciated as allways

Got more painting done now (i know, im getting faster!)
Started on a unit of rat ogres, which now just need a little cleaning up in places and the sand to dry so i can finish basing them.

Sand is covering their feet at the moment, this will be gone soon
Also, you may notice they have no tails
They are far too simple to be in an organised army, but i feel removing their tails removes a possible distraction, so may help them be less, erm, stupid.

And heres a bad pic, which for once, was intentional for me
Ill leaves people to guess what it is for now while i work on getting the conversion finished and undercoated.

Just a bit more work, this time showing alot more than the pic above.
Pics are washed out since the flash really hates GS, but once its finished and primed it shouldnt be an issue.

Thats where hes up to so far.

Another update!
Im getting the hang of this now

This time its the Rat ogres, but 100% finished.
However, i spotted a bloody massive mould line, so may have to trim that and re-paint an arm, but nothing major.

Thats them done for now, but ive got more models being based and undercoated at the moment.
All the time im burning through painting i dont want to slow down, because ill just stop if im not careful.
Almost out of devlin mud too, so may have to buy some agrax earthshade and hope its a match.

oh.....oh....well... what to do first?...

the warpcanon(?) looks amazing... the wood grain look and the glowing effect on the warpstone is very good looking...!...how did you do the effect on the stone???

and those rat ogres...they look very good too... but i am afraid the cut off tails now remind me a bit of hemorrhoid ...

but i like the toes and teeth of them...tho these could do with a bit of darkening...i think skaen are not known for flossiing their teeth on a day to day basis

and that love child of a dempon prince and a rat... simply stunning!... will it be in fact a DP or something else?...very good looking conversion work here and the GS fur looks awesome and totally the part!!!

The cannon was pure luck vik
Just washed it with waywatcher green then 2 washes of thrakka green, all over a white base lol.

I know mate, i may give them an armour plate to cover that in time lol.
And i forgot to shade the claws/teeth, ill get on that one 1st thing tomorrow

Its my take on the skaven vermin lord.
Really not into the old model since its near on 20 years old!

^Thats the GW one mate.

ah... i see your need to make your own then

although i am a bit surprised he got some kind of goat legs... not that rat-kind looking???

and i have used these washes over white too... must´ve been the pic that extra sold the effect then^^.... no seriously...looks amazing and i need to nick that methode^^

and an armor plate i think would be the best way... way more fluffy... kinda fits into that whole prosthetic look they have already!

Same style legs as the origional vik, just alot more chunky

It does nearly glow in normal light, i think its the waywatcher that gives it a nice effect and finishes it off.

I know mate, i hadnt thought of it until you said, then i spent 10 mins laughing about it lol.

Wont be alot of progress tonight, i need to draw up the sleeve tattoo for my left arm tonight, or atleast make a start on it, then i can work more on the vermin lord who only has base colours on a few bits at the moment.

oh... you draw your referrence art for your tats yourself?... would you say that the tatooist(?) and your art match then? i think that is one of the reasons i still have not a tat myself... for fear that the guy doesn´t get it right and i have to walk in the bleeding sunshine with a horrible spelling mistake and such things

that and of course the amount of cash and pain i would rather keep tomyself and not have any

I draw up the tattoo and the artist will fine tune a few bits to make sure it comes out clear on the skin.
Drawing on paper is fine, but skin has limits that are reaches alot easier, like far too much detail causes severe issues when trying to translate that to a tattoo.

If people want something bad enough then they are willing to bleed for it my friend

Same really
Slow progress, but thats because my entire daemons army (plus a £200 order on its way) is now being re-based to fantasy instead of 40k.

Regular updates should resume as normal starting tomorrow night

i think a demon player should magnetize the feet of his minis... to use whichever base type he needs atm...

Vik, have a look at bloodletters or daemonettes my friend, they both suffer from childrens feet syndrome

On the larger scale of things, ive just sprayed up a soulgrinder ready to start painting.
To hell with airbrushing things, i hate em, even if it takes me 100x longer
Long live the traditional brush

well if they have too small feet... put them an a big slab of "stone" and magnetize this instead

Good idea vik, i dropped the ball on that one haha!

Panda - I could easily justify going out and pouring money into an airbrush, but i just think it takes the work out of painting, which is 90% of what painting actually is.
I know ive painted an entire model with a brush, as opposed to a few blasts with an airbrush per layer.

I also know that im able to blend with a brush, as opposed to relying on an airbrush to make it easy
