Been a while since i had any urge to paint, but recently ive got the bug again, so i need to try and make the most of it and get some real progress going on my daemons.
Currently its just WiP shots of what ive bothered to start, but its getting there.
Want to have the army painted by the end of april now.

I wanted a rather unique look to my daemons, rather than going with trademark colours, so i decided to tinker after seeing someone use washes for power weapons.
I thought i would "borrow" the idea and tweak it a bit to see what it looked like on a creature of the warp.

This is what i have so far plus some random stuff.
Want to add in 30 more horrors and 3 daemon princes, but enough talk, onto WiP pics:

Well, ive now come to the conclusion that shiny models are a pain in the arse to take decent pics of, but ill try and set something up to make them a bit better.

So thats where im currently at.
Really do need to get alot done with the little free time i have, but i want to see a project through to the end for once.
Hoping the army should look fairly decent once it hits the table, but for now, i just want everything painted or atleast started.

Quick update.

Now got my 1st screamer 100% finished.
Wanted to keep to my coloure scheme so its basic, but looks a bit unusual








And thats it done.
Also, does anyone know how to remove the glare from a metallic model in pics please?
Ive tried just about everything i can think of up to now.
The only possible way im yet to try is using natural light, but ive got about 20 mins in the morning before i go to work, once im back its dark.

your basecoat of most of the models was mithril silver?...good looking... for better pics i suggest daylight or not a flash for those minis...

the winged one and the big sword wielder are by far my favorite tho

Yup vik, just a mithril silver basecoat then washes, lots and lots of washes haha.
I think ill have to get some daylight pics to avoid blinding the people of dakka.

daylight is always the best thing for models... i hope they wont crumble to dust tho... you never know with chaos^^

Daylight only makes them sparkle more im affraid.

Like the look of the metallic daemons...pretty cool. Try to get hold of a daylight bulb for a lamp if you rarely get access to natural daylight (which I can quite understand in the UK ), flash photography is never going to do metallics any favours.
Another posibility is to put a sheet of tissue in front of the flash - this will diffuse the light somewhat, but will affect the true colour of the items...

I allways vanish from time to time bubble, its something im good at

Been trying B&Q and other such places, but no luck on the bulb yet.
Hoping i can get some better pics tomorrow.

Also, only a tiny update, but everything is now basecoated, so i can start to actually paint stuff quickly again!

Interesting take on daemons. I really like the way the keeper of secrets looks, the paint scheme really suits it.

For photographing your minis, you could try using a lamp instead of a flash. It can also be a good idea to stick a sheet of white paper in front of the lamp bulb to soften up the light a bit.

Trying to get things painted up a unit at a time to speed it up.

However, painting fateweaver and a LoC at the same time is really slowing me down -_-

well... for me making indiviual models is somehow more rewarding than making batch painting stuff...even if the production this way is more productive

Sexy as anything. The metallic just really works. It makes me sad, it's like playing pokemon cards, you think you have a really awesome card, then someone comes along with a shiny version of it.

Now my army will feel bland by comparison xD

Got some work done on fateweavers wings, but not going to put pics up until the wings are finished
Wont look as good with flat metallics and no blending.


For now though, skaven engineer with doomrocket:

Ork rat is king of deamon. Worship him..

He needs some paint to make him more lucky.
Last 3 games were amusing.

Game 1: He failed and blew himself up along with half a unit of slaves.

Game 2: missile scattered and finished off my grey seer and a few stormvermin.

Game 3: Killed 3 fanatics and 12 night gobbo's while wounding a giant aswell lol. (which was later killed by a brass orb)


Random, but fun still.





Need to get some updates in soon.
Got back into tau with the new release, so got a riptide and a few other things ready for painting.

you need to do something with the rocket...needs to get some skaven love... maybe some wood grain?

Small update, and a change from daemons.


Pics are a mix of flash and non flash, as even at mid day, the light really is horrible here.















And thats it thus far, may go back here and there and add bits or clean up anything ive missed.

wow...now that is what i call a worthwhile return!...

that mini looks super! the skin is really good looking in a comic book kinda way!...and i love these strong highlights...they make the model look as dashing as it needs to be!... hope you painted your other skaven in the same way!

Thats the start of my new skaven army lol.

A friend decided WHFB would be a good idea, so 1,500 army was needed.
So naturally, ordered what i needed (had some stuff) and now using swapshop to get more.

Ill be going for the same level of painting on characters and models that stand out like war machines and banners etc, but for rank and file, ive got 200 in my list, this wont be quick or easy haha.
