That's funny because it's sort of racist.

Deathwing and Genestealer probably added too much to the game, Space Hulk was at its best in its original form. Deathwing added various thing like rules for all the weapons on the metal miniatures and ways to have two level hulks with ladders and pitfalls to travel between the two. Genestealer added all the psychic rules and gave you librarians and hybrids. That's probably where it got to be a bit much but it was still a lot of fun. The rules for Grey Knights were so strong that the suggestion in the rules was to modify the missions and not be afraid to pile on more blip tokens. Good times.

Nah, advanced space crusade has terminators and all that. At least, the ones I picked up at a convention a few years ago and gave away as prizes did. It had androids (necrons), dreadnaughts, orks and gretchin, stealers, and so on. It was like a more board gamey space hulk from what I remember, with all the blips and so on.

I think Tyranid attack is something different, though I could be wrong. But the advanced space crusade sets I got definitely had terminators.

Edit: Oh, but Ouze, everyone knows it's not racism to imply that Irish people are alcoholics! That's just good fun.

Well - different games not just a rebot if memory serves. I have them out in storage, but I did find a few images.

Space Hulk (most know this one) 1989.

Space Crusade was released by Milton Bradley in 1990 (not sold direct in North America according to the wiki - but sitting 6 feet from me right now). Board game with lots of stuff but very similar to Heroquest, just using 40k as a setting.

Advanced Space Crusade - ( I thought it was released by GW itself in late 1990 but the wiki said it was a joint game too - I'm pretty sure the wiki is wrong but it may have been licensed back from them? - but no MB on the box) It was with scouts attacking Tyranid organ ship.

Tyranid Attack came out in 1993. Had some of the same components (Tyranids and scouts) but added others like the terminators I believe. Was a different game.

Recollections are strange things, but I did buy all of these new in the store when they were released (except Space Crusade because I'm in America - that I got 2 copies of at Gen Con in 1992(93?) at the MB booth). Combining Advanced Space Crusade and Tyranid Attack could be fun, but neither game was as good as Space Hulk IMHO. Space Crusade was a poorer version of Heroquest, but was still fun. My teenage boys have just learned to play it - and it has been a blast.

OH YEAH - to the OP - Looks a lot like my storage unit! ;-) Great find and have fun. I'd never sell it, as I think at some point I would come to regret it tremendously.

Looks like Advanced Space Crusade was the same concept as Tyranid Attack, just a different ruleset (and with sphincter doors!). Tyranid Attack didn't have those, and had more minis.

I still have Tyranid Attack. It has simpler rules than Advanced Space Crusade, as far as I know. Really fun game though. As said before, two 5-man Scout squads inside of a Tyranid starship, trying to find it's major organs and blast them to kill it. The Tyranid player had Tyranid warriors (Deathspitters or Bonewords), Genestealers, and Genestealer Hybrids to choose from, to spawn against the Scouts.

The balance was that with lucky searching, the scouts could find stragglers from other assaults on the ship, like lost Wargear, Terminators (specifically from the Scythes of the Emperor), a Terminator Librarian, or a Hunter-killer robot (a close combat droid).

Best part was blasting the "Dermal Sphincter" Organ, which let you roll to see if you could dock a landing craft to it and bring in reinforcements. That's right, reinforcements through the ships anus.

Heh, I found exactly the same thing last week in my attic, along with Chainsaw Warrior.

My parents were having a clear-out recently and found a long-forgotten box containing a load of my old Citadel minis - Judge Dredd, Rogue Trooper, Squats and cross-dressing orcs, bizarrely.
