I'm still afraid our units will be too squishy for their cost. Especially the Troops section.
They might get some buffs to raw damage output but there is only so much you can do with T3 4+ 18" range unit.
Wave Serpent probably won't be much cheaper and it really really should. In the golden age of transport-hammer transports got better AND cheaper (looking at you rhino / chimera). Now that transports got the other end of the stick, the ones that could use some price drops are not getting it - Tau end Eldar (if the rumours are correct) ones.
They will be better so I'm happy. Just don't want no brainer auto-includes and auto-excludes.

Eldar troops (bar Wraithguard) is more squishy than ever since a scoring unit must disembark from a transport to claim an objective.
Moreover, Rangers and Pathfinders are very vulnerable to the increased number of weapons that ignore cover.

I am loving the new eldar models especially the new flyer i think all the models really help to enhance the whole look of the eldar army gw don't seem to upgrade the troop choices and core choices of both 40k and fantasy and i can understand why they dont so all in all i think its a good set of models that they have released really fit imo

Upset about the DA price.
I think the aircraft is ugly. Looks like a failed Russian design or something. My Nightwing will be getting a lot of proxy time.
Wraithguard are nice.
Wraithknight is beautiful, but I can't bring myself to spend that type of money on a non-Apoc model.
Can't wait to see what they did rules wise though. Real excited about that.

So they cut a troops box in half and are charging £20 for 5..
Wraithknight is stupidly OTT, borderline Titan, and costs the same amount of cash as a gorram baneblade
Flyer is generic and just so "oh, eldar"
Codex cover is pretty.
Wraithguard plastic kit is welcomed, but still averages out at £6 per model.
Nope.

Don't forget it costs as much as a stomp a. You know. Th vehicle that works use for apoc. I also dislike the arms on the tita- wraithknight.
Other negatives, some models still not updated and the disgusting ripoff that is dire avengers
Positives lovely artwork on the book, wraith guard look awesome, I actually like all the new models besides wraith Knight.

As an Eldar player, I'm not really impressed by the new models. Flyers are a must-have for each race. The Wraithknight is a bit riduluous, too big and thus too pricey. Repacking and making Dire Avengers more expensive by 66 percent is a strange move. I have two units of DA and that's enough.

Yeah, think positive. A model like the Dreadknight or Riptide would have been sufficient, but not this oversized puppy.

A bit of plastic card and green stuff and you could ad the height to make it a titan.

The only thing that matters to me at this point when starting a new army is the models. The new releases definitely do not raise my interest in the Eldar range to a level where I would start them as a new army.
I do like the new flyer, it seems to fit the Eldar style. Overall the range has way too much finecast and models that have been around for ages.
The Wraith Knight I just think is proportioned wrong and is a horribly awkward model for the game because of its ridiculous size.
From a modeling perspective, unless you like the big toy, there is no reason to start an Eldar army any more after this release, than say 6 months ago.
I am surprised that GW did not invest more in this release, but little they do makes much sense to those of us on the outside looking in.

Maybe there will be a second wave release out of left field somewhere with plastic aspects, and maybe GW will go back to the days where the quality of the game was more important than forcing gamers to forgo paying their bills just to get 1 model. But I doubt it
(bill comment is a hypothetical)
That being said plastic Wraithguard ftw!

I've got mixed feelings about what I've seen so far. New wraithguard and a plastic HQ is all well and good, but the flyer isn't nearly as good locking at the ones from forgeworld IMO (still decent though, I'm definitely getting one!) and why, oh why are there no plastic jetbikes with a Shining Spears addon?
I'm also a bit underwhelmed by the Wraithknight, but still... it's a frickin plastic titan!!

Model wise I'd split it in half:
Good:
Wraithguard - looks like a great set
Flyers - Like both models
Wraithknight - I didn't like at first but it's growing on me
Bad:
Dire Avengers - Enough has been said
Spiritseer - Not a great sculpt imo
Farseer - Not bad, just too similar to the last Farseer.
I'm completely undecided on the Illic model.

They've missed a lot of opportunities here.
New jetbike design,
Farseer biker (I'll be chopping the plastic kit to fit),
Weapon options for Exarchs, even if Finecast solo-models,
But, the Shining Spear addon is in the Bitz section of the Eldar armies web page.

Pseudo-rending on Catapults? About time! Anti-horde shooting and CC abilities on wraithguard, AND they're now a cheap(er) plastic kit!? YES PLEASE. A new monster unit that can throw down enough AP2 to kill 10 terminators a turn? A flyer with 4 BS5 lascannons?
The list of awesomeness goes on.
Personally, I'm not bummed about the lack of plastic aspects.. I think it was an unrealistic expectation, as they would be releasing a kit that not only had limited potential sales (most players have a fair few aspect squads already), that players don't field many of (niche unit), and that have substantial acceptable 2nd hand models from a 20yr period. Not to mention on models that in some cases only had their 3rd resculpt only a few years ago.
Now no re sculpted jetbikes? Thats kinda crappy, least they dropped the price.
(did anyone else notice btw that the bikes used for the battlerep in WD had guardian helmets? even the WD staff hate them apparently)
And maybe this codex won't have the Eldar be the buttboys of the galaxy while Avatars of Khaine get the snot beaten out of them by everyone and their grandma.
Speaking of the Avatar, the Wailing Doom's Shooting profile is no longer once per game IIRC. Not that this makes him an auto-include choice now, but add on those exarch abilities he may now purchase plus fleet and I think I will be pulling my sad little GW avatar back off the shelf and throwing him back in the mix! Automatically Appended Next Post:
No, I believe the folks who preordered the codex from GW's site already got theirs. I already have my preorder models at the house.

I really like the Wraithguard and I loved the wraithlord since it was released... but I still hate aspect warriors.
Maybe I should go for a main force of DE and ally in what I like from the craftworlders.

DA price increase- just why? I guess it's a good thing I'll be playing Ghost Warriors then, stick to the plastic WG and maybe some Guardians for troops.
