He he he, all I really need is the dial... I came by a free a-wing model from a buddy but he had lost the dial. Getting a dial on it's own is nigh on impossible so I might as well pick up another one and use the other spare as wreckage or something

Actually you can contact FFG on their website for replacement parts. I misplaced one of my Chewbaca inserts for the large base and asked FFG for a replacement. They sent me all of the cardboard pieces for the Millennium Falcon so if you told them you lost the dial for the A Wing they will probably replace it for you at no charge. At least it's worth a shot....the worst that could happen is them saying no.

Solve a man's problem with violence and help him for a day. Teach a man how to solve his problems with violence, help him for a lifetime - Belkar Bitterleaf
True, but to be honest I already contacted them twice in the past 1.5 months, with the sheer volume of stuff I bought there were a couple of glitches, missing flight stems and the like... I kinda feel just popping up again for a third time would be pushing it, and since I intend on continuing to collect, I would rather not burn any bridges there lol!
Well, since MajorTom wants my Awing, I have two Xwings left. Alfondrate, it sounds like they'll be back soon, so if you want them for retail cost plus shipping, they're yours. One or both, totally your call. You only really need one Xwing expansion pack though-Wedge is amazing.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Sadly, I can't help with ties at the moment...I would be able to snag a couple in 2 weeks for you though. I have to go near a store that has them all in stock, and I could probably call ahead and have them held. What amount of each do you need?

I live in BFE Nebraska and the Target has at least 10 Core sets on the shelf. Also, do you have Hastings? They have Cores and expansions there/here. I know ours had 2-3 Cores on the shelves.
Amazon has Cores and some of the First Wave stuff still in stock and under retail.
I suggest you guys take a sharp look at the core sets through the windows, I had heard there was a big difference between first release sets and the reprints, but seeing it myself now I would recommend taking a look to make sure it is a reprint -
Besides overall build quality and paint, one quick way to tell is if the panels on the wings right next to the engine have a detailed seam molded into it, or if it is just a big rectangle.
There are pics on my blog in the latest post where I show side by side, it is a pretty big difference - link in my sig -

Checked out the target not too far from my house, and it had like 6 or 7 sets of the core game, which would be awesome... if I needed the core game :-\. They sadly didn't have any of the expansion packs, I asked a clerk and he looked at me like I was an idiot, apparently no one in that target knew there were other ships .
Hastings sadly do not go farther east than the Indiana/Ohio Border (if you draw a line from that point, there is 1 south in Kentucky and Tennessee that are roughly along that line).
Edit: timetowaste, if you have someone else that can take you up on that offer for those x-wings, do it. I found a guy at my old store that has 2 x-wings (one from the xpac), some stuff from the starter set, and a y-wing and is selling them to me for 45 shipped.

Taking a look at X-wing as a potential first step outside the 'GW' market, I thought I'd take a look around and see what was available in terms of larger model kits at the same scale. There doesn't appear to be a huge amount out there unfortunately, but I did find a few odds and sods.
Now correct me if I'm wrong, but X-wing is 1/270 scale right? Presuming that to be the case, roughly how far out of proportion would it be to use 1/144 models? Because I've successfully tracked down some particularly detailed multipart resin kits for GR-75 Rebel Medium Transports:
Spoiler:
and Sentinel Class Shuttles that look pretty good:
Spoiler:
I also found an imperial troop transport at 1/72 scale
Spoiler:
Thing is, I'm genuinely not very good with scale, so I'm not entirely certain how far off base these will be!
The troop transport will look markedly bigger than the one shown at Gencon which is smaller scale than 1/270. Ultimately, I don't think people will have a big problem with it but the utility of it all depends on the price of the alternate models as well. The transport cost effectively around $45-50 when you take away the $10-15 for the bundled pork-wing and it comes prepainted and ready to play. The transport would have to be significantly cheaper for me personally to be worth it for me personally.
As for the imperial troop transport, nice find! I remember those from the old xwing/TIE fighter games and do wish it was at a smaller scale. At 1/72, it'll likely be twice the length at least of the imperial shuttle which is a bit too much of a difference for me.
