Back in the day we hired grandmothers and teenaged girls. It was rare to find someone over 18 who was a babysitter.

EDIT: however we didn't have a 12 year old babysitting either. There is a maturity issue at that point-especially boys.

Probably work

I babysat my brother who was 10 years younger than me when I was still living at home. We would wrestle and play "violently", sparring with sticks and the like. I never once caused him any real pain that I recall, let alone injury, but I remember getting rapped across the knuckles a few times and kicked in the balls once.

I have a hard time believing this was not a sadistic, terrible thing intentionally done.

Of course, I guess I was a good deal older than my early teenage years.

Yes. My boy would have never dreamed of trying 'wrestling moves' on his younger sister. That sounds like the kid is not all there and otherwise feels vaguely "future serial killerish."

At some point parents have to be responsible.

My two eldest boys watch wrestling, but they also both know if I ever see them copying the moves they'll be sent to the wall for thirty minutes and banned from watching wrestling for the rest of the year, with the warning maybe you'll be able to control yourselves better a year older. They've not broken the rule yet and the oldest lad has watched it now for two years off and on.

This.

WWE has since released another statement.

WWE has released another statement concerning the tragic death of Viloude Louis, a five-year old girl who was killed by her brother who was mimmicking wrestling moves.

The new WWE statement reads:

“The death of Viloude Louis is a tragedy and we express our heartfelt condolences. Authorities have already charged the accused with second degree murder and determined that this was not an accidental death due to a wrestling move. The facts of this case clearly point to a lack of parental supervision and a teenager who had a history of violent behavior toward his 5-year-old stepsister. It is illogical to conclude that the repeated, brutal and ultimately fatal beating of a 5-year-old little girl by a teenager could be confused with imitation of WWE action seen on TV.”

The kid is an idiot. At 13 I knew not to beat the crap out of a 5 year old.

I dont think it was wrestling that did this, I was making a joke about it. I do hate wrestling but for totally different reason(I prefer boxing myself). But I will say it lead to inspiration for that at, it just isnt the sole or primary cause.

I have to be honest here, this isn't a little kid. this is a 13 year old. At 13 I knew the consequences of Violent action. I also knew that WWE was in fact Scripted and the wrestlers nothing more than very bulky Acrobatic Stunt men. If this was a 6-7 year old boy that DDT'ed His little sister I could give warrent to the accusation that the kid was in fact performing moves he had seen on TV. But a Teenage boy.......

At 13 years of age you would of already had your share of fights at school and such. Its the age most teenage boys begin there placement in the Social ladder if you like.

Well, he sounds like a well adjusted young man. As much as I'd say the kid's nuts though, to kill another child at 13 lies in bad parenting.

It's sad how often people do this.

Even here, someone was able to turn ''leaving a 5 years old child with his teen brother'' into neglect. Both my sisters and me babysat from 10-11 years on. I did so until I was 15, and stopped only because I was stupid enough to trade that job for a paper route. Worst career decision evar.

Of course, it is entirely possible that the parents are somehow to blame for this situation. They allowed him to watch a gakky 'sport' like wrestling after all. It's just not something any of us can judge with the little information we have.

From what I'm seeing the accused has a history of violence towards his step sister. So with this in mind, the parents still let him watch her? Yeah, there's definitely some blame in there for the parents.

If the second statement from the WWE is correct, and he does have a history of violence towards her, then it is partially the parents fault. That said, the boy should, by now, understand how those actions were 100% unacceptable, and if he doesn't know, it's the parents fault for not properly teaching him. And if he doesn't know better because of his mental faculties (serial killer or mentally unstable/both), the parents were at fault for leaving him to take care of her. So actually, yes, it is the parents fault that this happened. Either they didn't raise him properly, ignored the fact that he "wasn't quite right" or ignored that he acted violently towards her in the past. Total parental screw-up. Such a pity this girl suffered for that.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Ah! Didn't see the new post. You are right, major parental screw-up.
