Void Stalker is a name Aaron Dembski-Bowden used in his series for the trilogy of books surrounding the Night Lords.

I suppose you could have these guys be a war band that spun off from the Night Lords. Following the Horus Heresy, there were many war bands than formed from them as they various captains went their separate ways.

I like Void Stalkers a lot too, but what Chaos God are you running for you chapter? Chaos Undivided, Nurgle, etc?

They usually have names related to their God, so if it's Undivided Void Stalkers look great, and Green Death looks much more a Nurgle dedicated army.

Not all Chaos Space Marines worship chaos gods. Indeed, in the night lord trilogy, most of the marines didn't worship anything. Those that did were treated...differently.

You can be renegade without worshiping chaos.

You are completely right. I forgot about Night Lords and how they see the adoration of the Chaos God. Same thing with Iron warriors, they also hate mutations with a passion. My bad.

I was trying to think of a name that belies the green and red colors that are associated with death and decay without being nurgle sounding.

How about we see a picture of a couple models to help get a name?

I find it helps to look at things and say "that looks like a _________"

Technically they're just Warbands now. Almost none of the Legions are still intact as a functional singular entity. They might get together and party every few hundred years for a Black Crusade, though.
