I'd drop the lightning claw and fist, and get a frost axe and bolt pistol. Same number of attacks, same ap2 of the fist, and only slightly less strong, for much cheaper.

Or Frost Axe Power Maul for a Bucket load of S7 of Attacks at both I5 or I1, you an always throw grenades if you want a Ranged Attck.

screw all that sillyness,I play space wolves alot, you wont be needing the necklace i thought the same and it never helped me in any game. you get rend on 6s with the wolf, so either get duel claws to allow rerolls on to hit and to wound, or drop the fist/claw and grap a hammer! get that str 10 hits. if you take a frost axe it will make you I1 but those 6 strenght 7 attacks on the charge plus hammer of wrath can be really mean. or go hammer/sheild and have 5 isnta kills on the charge plus your hammer of wrath. for sagas you dont need any really on the lord like this endless you want.

If you really want a saga i would either go warrior born with 2 claws, which COULD be 12 attacks next turn! if you get 6 on your charge, plus your hammer of wrath, you could kill upto 7 on your charge, thats +7 to your 5 attacks next turn (and if you had the axe with str 7 you will wound most on a 2+ or get frost sword and wound everything upto T5 on 2+)

saga of the wolfkin is a blast with a wolf army, you put your lord with thunder cav, and run 2 full squads of wolves up front who all hit before most space marines! add a rune priest who is casting 4++ on your wolves hahahahahahahha

I fear you may have missed something. Are you aware you only get Rending if you're not using a different close combat weapon? If you are using one, you then refer to that weapon's profile... which doesn't have Rending itself.

From the FAQ:
"Q: Does a Thunderwolf Cavalry model with a special close combat
weapon (eg a thunder hammer) still have rending attacks? (p34)
A: No. The description of the Thunderwolf mount on page 62
says that it ‘… has the Rending special rule in close combat
with any attack that does not use a special close combat
weapon’. This applies to Thunderwolf Cavalry as well (and
Canis Wolfborn, for that matter)."

Claws are rending though.

The "claws" that are the default close combat attacks of the Thunderwolf model are, yes. I don't remember Wolf Claws (the Lightning Claw equivalent) being Rending too, though. It's a special weapon with its own rules and as such wouldn't benefit.

...unless Wolf Claws do actually have Rending, in which case ignore me.

they dont. WolfClaws are LC that can reroll to hit OR wound.

Thanks for all the input. I ran my initial build the other day, and ran into a dude using mortarion from the 30k book. The 4++ really killed me in the end.

I'm going to take the general advice from this post and run him with powerfist/storm shield, and drop the wolftooth necklace.

you are right, i should have proof read my post, i ment "you get rend on 6s with the wolf by itself" didnt mean that the wolf added rend to all weapons, plus rend and thunder hammer makes no sense.

jeystumpy, going with the powerfist is a great idea since FAQ made it 10pts instead of 25pts! plus with the shield your not really losing that bonus attack from having the powerfist since the sheild already takes it away. space wolves against any legion will be tough for sure, so good luck on your next fight!

That is only if your Wolf Lord trades in his Power Weapon while in Terminator Armor.

I run 2 lords in my wolves list.

One has PF, SS, Runic, Thunderwolf, Saga of Bear 2x Fenrisians (Just in case I need to eat demolisher cannon rounds or death rays or smash attacks)
Other has PF, SS, Runic Thunderwolf, Saga of Warrior Born, 2x Fenrisians (This guy lets me chew my way out of tarpits)
Depending on the list I season with wolth tooth necklaces and talismans as floating points at the end of my list allows (And to meet the different wargear requirements) Wolf Tooth necklaces still allow you to beat on invisible deathstars and make you not care about blind. They also counter that nasty hive tyrant power that makes you WS1.

They ride in a unit of 3x Thunderwolf calvalry (occasionally with meltabombs)

The probably isn't tournament winning, but it is a blast to run.

Please note that Canis has the Rending special rule in his profile so he always has rending. Yes he would lose the rending from being thunderwolf Calvary but he does not lose rending from himself.
