Got onto the floor for a bout an hour after we arrived yesterday, talked with some art friends and then FFG. Went out to dinner with a ton of FFG peeps and then hit up one of the many hotel bars.

Bout to head back for a real full day.

Brought home the new Shadowrun book, the Battletech art/history book, and the new Iron Kingdoms book.

And my meetings with all the ADs went... well, pretty amazingly. Should be a full year.

Any one manage to snag a copy of the new Firefly TTG? Apparently Battle Front (under Gale Force 9) sold out of the 1000 copies they brought to the show in a combined span of about four hours.

I beg of you sarge let me lead the charge when the battle lines are drawn
Lemme at least leave a good hoof beat they'll remember loud and long

I only got about an hour on saturday to cruise through the dealer hall. This was where I was standing waiting for them to open the dealer hall doors at 9:30...

I was too busy demoing so I didn't have a lot of time, but I managed to pick up the 2 Descent expansions from FFG. Trollfens was on sale there a month or so early They had the WFB pog game on display, I said Meh and took pics of the new X-Wing ships next to it

Then I cruised by the GW booth and got some pics of the battle they had on display

I didn't take many more pics.. I should have, there was so much cool stuff going on... like my multiplayer Blackwater Gulch gang war This was right before the carnage happened...

The folks at Aetherworks terrain were awesome, they stopped by and handed me a bunch of free building kits to give away to the winners and like 50 TNT crates, everyone got one of those

It's okay, the only times I was able to leave my booth was to grab lunch (which ended up being at like 3pm every day), and when I grabbed a demo of Dropzone Commander on Sunday 30 minutes before the show ended.

You're going to be at Origins right? OTL is debating taking Endless and heading back to Origins.

Same here. I was working the DP9 booth. On Saturday I realized around 5:30 I hadn't left the booth the entire day, with the possible exception of a brief visit to the minis hall around the corner.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.

Gen Con 2013 had 49,058 unique attendees and turnstile attendance of 159,364, the organizers announced today. The number of unique attendees was up around 20% from last year’s 41,000+. The show has grown over 75% over the last five years. The show was teed up for a big year, with record exhibit space and pre-registrations (see "Record Gen Con").

Attendance at Gen Con Trade Day doubled, Gen Con organizers said. Last year’s Trade Day attracted 232 attendees (see "Gen Con Nets 41,000 Unique Attendees").

Show organizers also reported that Mayfair was successful at setting a new world record for the "Most People Playing Settlers of Catan Simultaneously" (see "Mayfair Seeks 'Catan' Record"), with 922 players.

Yeah, I'll probably run up to origins. It was frustrating; I didn't actually see any of the three rows closest to the exhibitor entrance, which includes the OTL booth. I was really hoping to check out endless finally!!!

Seemed like a really busy con this year.

I will have accrued two weeks of vacation time next year, so GenCon is a definite next year! Hopefully I can meet some dakkanauts.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

Great to hear that it is doing so well. Actually, there is even some spill-over into other things.. was watching coverage of the MotoGP bike race that was happening (nearby?) at Indianapolis, and even the commentary team mentioned Gencon during the coverage. Possibly seeing some people in hotels and the like, they said that there were a lot of 'interesting looking characters' around

Considering that last year 41,000 nerds descended upon Indy, and this year 49l did, totally busy . The throngs of crows were insane, and I didn't even see what was going on in Wizards's area or the event hall...

It's a closer drive for you than it is for me I should be able to make it to Origins next year. I just need to see if it's a one day thing, or if OTL will pay my way.

The motoGP was here last year too, and like last year that made it awesome at nighttime. Tons of stuff going on downtown of the streets. Lots of outdoor bars set up. Lots of live music. It was a blast (I think ;-) )

I thought I heard someone say they've overlapped for years. Maybe the Moto GP just started doing more stuff down-town this year?

Gen Con has also announced they're moving to late July in a couple years.

The hotel I stay at has plenty of the bikers when I'm there for GenCon, so I get to see all the cool bikes lined up in the morning when I leave for the convention center. And last year when I was walking to Scotty's (Paizo took it over last year), we had to walk past an entire city block that was filled with bikes.

Really cool show, though it apparently doesn't beat the convention in a city that also had a fetish ball/convention going on at the same time and both cons found out about each other, so there was some mixing.

Also I hope they don't go with late July

Well the GP just got an extension until 2014 and beyond, if they keep the same dates it sounds like the whole thing might be a unique experience and well worth the trip!

I'm pretty much in the same boat: only my friend who threatened me WANTS to go next year.

Especially if you can hook up with a game company, give up 1 day of your convention and get a free badge for working for them.

Not this year I didn't I worked all 4 days and trade show on Wednesday.

Some (read: Wyrd and maybe PP, Paizo, and Dp9) will generally pay your way to a show, but you have to give up some of your time at the show and work. For Wyrd it was 3 shifts throughout the convention. I said feth it, gave up my Saturday and worked from 9am to 10pm demoing Malifaux. I also got booth credit for that.

I have a friend who may do that for Weiss Schwarfz or Cardfight Vanguard. It's very tempting to do, but I don't want to give up a Thursday if something cool releases.

We got to say our availability, I chose Saturday because I wanted to be in the vendor hall on Thursday for cool releases, I had things planned for Friday, worked Saturday, and got Demos on Sunday. This year I worked all day every day
