Hopefully it's a turn for the better.

No worse than CMON crawling out of the mess that New Wave was. They've certainly made their presence known in the last few years.

Maybe it's GameZone's turn to step it up.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

It's because the rights to Hero Quest lapsed in Spain, so they can make it now.

You'll certainly be able to import it (just like you can import, say, Stalingrad DVD from Europe, which was renamed Enemy at the Gates for the US release)

GW did not design it, a Milton Bradley game designer did.

Hero Quest is what got me gaming to begin with.

I'm just happy to see it get an update.

I loved HeroQuest. My dad used to run it for my brother and me, he'd play the dwarf and the elf, I'd run the Barbarian and Wizard (because humans are the bestest).

Had the Return of the Witch Lord and Kellar's Keep. And maybe it's because I am drunk and maudlin, but I would happily crack someone in the face with a ball peen hammer for an updated but still classy version, so a hundred bucks and some mail shenanigans seems pretty reasonable.

I'm interested in this. I'll wait to see the minis and all the stuff, buy it's very likely I'll be in. HeroQuest was my first game too.

This has made my morning - looking forward to it, I like Gamezone's minis, particularly their Vampire Knights and it's good to see a classic, if not cornerstone, game get a much needed re-boot.

gamezone is confirming to several spanish blogs the veracity of the heroquest anniversary edition

-The announcement on heroquest.es was a authorized leak
-The web about Heroquest will appear in October on its website

I never heard of anyone having problems with GameZone on the order of New Wave? Their metal castings were poor, but their sculpts are good. Locals who ordered the resin Dark Elf spearmen got them without problem and were excellent casts.

If I can get a Board, a full set of the combat dice and a crap-ton of updated sculpts which include real models for all the terrain and doors, I will consider the set valuable even if it is not in English.

I'm very happy this is making a return, and I have no problem buying from Spain.

This. The partnership with Milton Bradley worked very well - innumerable hobbyists said they got their start with Hero Quest, and the board game sells briskly on ebay.

Looking for the Empire spearmen from the Warhammer sixth edition box set (empire vs orcs) Must be unpainted and in good condition. Also looking for MIB Empire State Troops boxes.

Looking for Battle for Macragge and Black Reach Tactical squads, unpainted and unassembled.

GW seems content to just sell the same starter boxes to all customers instead. WOTC though has made some good strides though in coming out with starter boxes both of the core RPG and more minis centric board-game-minis hybrids. I'm not sure how much of that latter category is original intent versus simply coming out with something/anything since they put to rest the current edition of D&D.

My Heroquest/ Battle Masters nostalgia as been running rampant lately. Interesting that this popped up. I've also been dreaming about how fun it would be to recreate both games with whfb models.

Do we know how the rights for Spanish Heroquest were set up? It turns out Spanish copyright enters public domain "at the expiration of its term of protection". In other words, it's not a set amount of time like it is here, so if it was originally set up as 25 years and no-one's renewed it since, it may well have entered public domain. GameZone may even have set up its own term if that were the case.

Very interested in this news.

I've been looking for an easy to set up and run game for after dinner with friends.

This could well be it.

Dang -- Make your own set before the kids go off to college! (: Looks like there's enough HQ DIY for you to at least make your own version of the game. Reaper has released various dungeon dressing furniture in Bones plastic, and I occasionally see a Hirst Arts-based KS so you can get other furniture cheap (eg. Itar's Workshop, Mythical Lairs). If you were on the MYTH KS, I don't think it would be difficult to use the MYTH miniatures in HQ.

Also, if anyone's interested, I have an extra Battle Masters set in shrink for trade. Send your trade lists, including boardgames! I think I'm mostly interested in terrain?

Well, if you're looking for, say the Hero Quest board and some great minis to go with it, I'd suggest going over to Impact Miniatures and taking a look at the set they made (they called it the Questing Hero set on their Chibi Kickstarter).

I'm a fan of the Chibi miniatures, but I could see that being a point against it in some cases. Of course, I'm a Super Dungeon fan as well, and there's some clear crossover audience there.

But Impact sells usable board tiles, and if you get a PDF of the rules online, you'll be golden. A little work to make your own cards, but not that bad.

Reaper's funiture is great.

On a side note- anyone think they could get the rights to re-print Space Crusade too? These two games should have been re-printed by GW long ago- and honestly (especially since there was so much demand for Space Hulk).

Way to go Game Zone.

I'd think Space Crusade would be a lot more problematic. HeroQuest is pretty generic fantasy, and I think even there they're changing out the Fimir, aren't they? SC is filled with Imperial Fists, Blood Angels, etc. The closest thing might be to have Space Crusade but with all the 40k stripped out of it. which I'm sure would diminish it's appeal quite a bit...
