Pretty par for the course for the involved poster(s) though.

Good job getting your models in WD! It isn't the first time, is it?

If you post something along the lines of 'modern WD is better than classic WD' (which I believe was the content of the previous thread), you've basically done the equivalent of saying 'Pamela Anderson is better now than she was 20 years ago in Baywatch'. There would be something wrong with the world if that didn't get a strong response..

You can't drop a bomb like that and then run away calling "what did I do?! What did I do?!"

Got to agree I thought it was pretty top notch painting.

The 360 degree spearman. base is all manner of mangled, dust particles all over the place(granted that's the photographers fault), the skirt is poorly done, the armor is bare bones painting. I get that it's a core infantry model, but if you are going to put one under a microscope, at least make it the perfect version of that model.

And the WD painting guides, with the exception of the guest ones like Gareths, are done by the WD team, and are tabletop at absolute best.

I'm just a grumpy old man.

The OP seems to start threads that are loaded about how great GW is, then labels those that express differing opinions as haters. So its kind of a given that that kind of attitude's going to get up the noses of those that don't go about show boating that company, or youknow... just want to have a discussion that has more than one side to it. That the language used can come across as gloating doesn't help either...

If its the case that someone wants to state an incredibly biased view on a subject, but then doesn't want to hear any opposing opinions this really isn't the forum for that. Though I guess all the advertisements for Gareth's blog will lead anyone looking for that kind of thing to the right place?

Somewhere in the steamy jungles of the south...

It's really cool that Gareth got featured in WD, Irregardless of his personal views on GW! I've been following Tale of Painters for ages and always really love seeing his stuff. Good to see him achieving the recognition he deserves.

BTW, I tend to judge an artist based on the quality of his work, not his viewpoints. I love all sorts of bands and artists created by viewpoints that are the polar opposite of mine, and don't give two figs about what the creators' opinion are. Frankly, I've got the distinct feeling that if Gareth got featured in NQ people wouldn't have an issue with it.

Let's just be happy for him and leave the cynicism at the door. How hard is it?

~Tim?

It looked awesome dude, congrats on getting it in the magazine! One of our local club members won armies on parade, things just look that little bit better in professional print.

As for the attitudes ITT, I best not comment, I got my warning for expressing opinion last time

Congrats Gareth!

How is TWF these days? I used to read a lot of your posts over there and the mini tutorials were great.

You should put your how to paint white sisters recipe up on your blog to accompany the new codex!

As for GW hate, I find it rather odd, the ones that dislike the company the most also seem to be the ones still buying and playing GW stuff.

Those of us playing other stuff have already moved on and don't really have a problem with other people liking the company and its games.

I still post on the warhammer forum. In fact I posted about being in WD over there. One person got upset because he thought I was rubbing his nose in it, despite me saying in my opening post I hope this doesn't come across as gloating. We're all pretty passionate about our hobby so I can forgive him for venting on the internet.

Sisters of battle tutorials would be awesome. Great idea.

Thanks. Yeah forum mods can be harsh. I once picked up an infraction warning on bolter and chainsword because my signature was a 2 pixels too long. What a jobsworth.

Just put Grimtuff on your ignore list, he is endlessly hostile towards people that dare like the company he despises but cries if you argue with him, there was absolutely no need for him to start on you in this thread, but he will kick and scream as though you are a villainous aggressor if you enter into dialogue with him.

On topic, your models are absolutely fantastic and I wish I had half your patience and skill. Its a fantastic achievement to be able to paint so well, and get printed in WD, and I am jealous as feth.

Good drills!

Ironically, I probably have met Grimtuff as he most likely attends the same club as me, I guess some people are just different online.

I would love to get some painting in WD, I'm hoping that the next paint comp is tyranid as it gives me a chance to buy some!
