The one above is the British Challenger. I ordered 3x M60 Pattons and the next purchase after that will be 3x Merkava - and you're right, they definitely have some futuristic lines.

That Pig Iron tank looks great as well!

That's a British Challenger in the comparison shots. It's neat, but I like the Merkava a bit more as a base for a sci-fi tank. Completely agreed with the Pig Iron comment, I have the AFV version (the one with the gatling turret, forget the name atm) that makes itself useful as terrain. Don't care for the tank version, but the APC and AFV are some of my favorite sci fi vehicles ever produced.

It's a shame they don't make a Merkava IV in 1/48 scale. The one they have does look futuristic, but the Merkava IV looks more near future than the Merkava I.

The Challenger is awesome as well. Not as easily recogniseable as an Abrams, and with some kit bashing you could have something very cool.

Another thing you could try is using Revell military model kits. They run from $20 to $30 a pop for the 1/35 scale (a lot less then GW prices) with just a little kit bashing could work well to.

It is the way of Fenris. We stay as long as we can. Fight as hard as we can. Kill as much as we can. Only when we can do no more do we move on.

Sometimes you gotta roll the hard six!

1/35 can be a bit too big to work well with 28mm models, though.

Depending on what vehicle you are using, this is usually the case. Even the small m113 APC is a bit bigger than a Rhino. Still, if you're looking for a larger tank, some of the smaller 1/35 tracked vehicles might work.

However, I highly recommend checking out 1/48 scale first. It's much closer in size and though the selection isn't as good as 1/35, it's usually quite affordable.

I picked up a 1:35 Hummel to use with my Iron Warriors as a Basilisk back in one of the older editions of 40k. While I knew it was somewhat oversized, that was somewhat the point with the model (rule of cool).

Hard plastic is the plan from what I've heard. It has been on the drawing board for a very, very long time and the concept art was first shown about 18 months ago, and there's a BoW vid of Ronnie talking about his plans for it.

Deadzone terrain is the test bed for making huge sprues (12" x 6").. once they're happy that they've got that production process sorted, they can apply it to affordable hard plastic vehicles.

You could easily fit a vehicle on to 2 of the large DZ terrain sprues, and mantic was selling those at 4 for $25.

So, it's entirely possible that a Warpath KS might have $15 tanks for sale (if not individually, as part of bundles). I will be going in big and getting dozens of the things.

As for current vehicles, there's a ton of them that you can use:

- Secret Weapon Assault Vehicle (has all the weapon types to cover every vehicle in the corp list).
- Pig Iron Tanks
- Ramshackle Games Tanks.
- Old Crow Tanks.

They're all typically in the £20-£30 range as far as pricing though, so it's more a case of buying them to get a non-GW style rather than non-GW pricing.

im definitely going to throw money at a warpath kickstarter, especially with that concept art. i really hope when whatever finished product they come out with will fit the setting as well as well as have an affordable price tag. my only question or hope about this concept art is that I dont want the Corperation tanks to be hover tanks. I really feel like they should have tracked tanks and wheeled apc. also what would really be cool if they decided to add flyers to the game which I dont think is necessary right now, they should make their flyer be the one on the cover of the Warpath 2.0 beta cover.

I vastly prefer hover tanks . Rebs and marauders can have the older models with tracks. Hover tank, not flying elder tank. Still slow, just floatier.

Would prefer Corporation to have tracked and wheeled vehicles; perhaps Enforcers and Forge Fathers to have hover vehicles.

General idea going by the Warpath background is:

- Corporation makes use of hover tech to impress primitive races they contact, it's show-off tech as well as being useful for all terrain and situations.

- Marauders and Rebs make use of old Corporation tech or whatever they can get their hands on.

- Enforcers make atmospheric or even orbital drops from starships.

- Forgefathers seem to favour tracked, heavily armoured modified mining vehicles.

Squig there are any news about the said kickstarter? Still rumored to Q2 2014?

All I care about is that the stuff looks good. I'm not too fond of that old concept art for the Corporate hover tank. It looks like a flying cargo container with small turret on top. Not terribly impressive.

Its just concept art so we will habe to wait till they release some more pics or actual models. I agree though if its just going to have a manned defense turret on top instead of a main gun turret than I as well will not be impressed.

I'm not too fussed with Hover Tech vs Tracked Tech. Hover tech just seems a bit impractical anyway, especially in a "hard(er)" sci-fi universe than 40k. I ordered 3x Merkava tanks as well as 3x Leopards to go with my Challengers and Pattons.

At some point I guess I'll have to assemble and paint some of them(!)

Hover tanks would fill a separate niche than main battle tanks - faster, with lighter armor. Fast support and reccon. Possibly fast deployment for troop transportation as well.

Me, I would rather see main battle tanks, or both hover and tracked tanks than hover tanks on their own.

Possibly Q3 or Q4 next year at this rate.

Kickstarter schedule for 2014 is roughly going to be:

- Dreadball Extreme Q1
- Kings of War Q2 (possibly very early Q2)
- Warpath Q3/Q4.. they want both Dreadball Extreme and KoW to have shipped before the Warpath KS launches. They want high-quality hard plastics to be in people's hands from both deadzone and the second KoW KS, to give backers confidence in the quality of the product.

It's taking a bit longer than Mantic would like to get to market, but they need to work out their production before it can happen.

Those are great news, not only i like to hear they are goying for quality before anything else, but i have projects in KoW and DZ second Wave goying on, it is good to know i will have time to breath

Good to hear that Mantic are being a bit measured about things. No need to rush everything to the market at once and sink themselves from over-expansion, they are gradually getting there!
