It really depends on what I'm painting. When i first started it took me about 6 hours to paint a single Grey Knight. Now it only takes me about an 1.5 - 2 hours.
If I'm painting Gaunts, ~45 minutes. Tac marines take me about an hour.
I do not hand paint vehicles anymore. Once I got an airbrush and saw the difference of the paint coverage/quality, I swore never to hand paint a vehicle again.

Varies by importance and need (and my level of acute OCD):
Standard troops, usually a dozen max: 6-9 hours
Characters: days
HQ / Warlord / Veterans: a week is a minimum!
Vehicle: 1 - 7 days, depending on the size

10-12min for a daemonettes and plaguebearers. About 15min for iron hand marines. 4 hours for the Pre Heresy world eaters. 10min for the average base.
Fun to see what people post and then go sneak a peek at the galleries =)

I can pound out a Guardsmen with a basic scheme in about an hour. But my basic tabletop make it look good takes about 1.5-2 hours and if I'm doing a character that I want to stand out I can go up to 4 hours meticulously painting. Course, sometimes I start to do detail and then I just give up, I think I've got one of the worst platoon standards I've ever seen cuz I stopped halfway out of frustration.

I've spent the last two days working on my predator for my space wolves army, I threw some long fangs together this last weekend in a total of 15 hours in three days for 5-6 long fangs.
I spent 4 days re painting my drop pod before it decided it no longer wanted to accept that super glue is sticky and fell apart.
Ive gottan anal about perfection on detail lines and goofy little things that I used to not give a gak about.

As my skills have improved over the years, I'd say the painting time has gone up instead of down. Necron troops take about 30 minutes a pop + a swim in dip, however Space Wolves models easily take 2-4 hours a pop, they have so much detail...
Sadly I don't have a gallery yet.

I'm a pretty slow painter, and I don't paint troops one at a time. I go for the assembly line technique. Assemble and primer the whole squad, base coat the whole squad, then something like paint all the black areas, then highlight/shade all the black areas, then all the metallic areas, then the next color, and the next color...
10 Space Marines will take me about 20+ hours to do one squad. :/
For a commander, solo, or some centerpiece model, I'll spend 10-20+ hours painting that one model (depending on the complexity of the paint scheme).
Vehicles... just depends on the size, complexity, and whether or not I just want to get it done to play with.

This one is hard because it all depends on the model I am painting and if I am batch painting or not.
For firewarriors I batch paint them so do base layers 1-3 on about 10 at a time then move onto highlights and fine details then a wash then done so probably about 30 minutes to an hour (per model) for batch painting troops.
When I am painting a hero, HQ, or something I want to stand out or be a little above average probably 2-4 hours.
My latest model was a Skaven Warlord took me about 3 hours but it probably one of the best models I have painted to date so depends on how good I want it to look.

Never really timed myself. I tend to paint in an assembly line fashion. Start color one on the first mini and then paint through the whole set sitting there. By then the paint on figure one is dry and ready for color two and so on until the figs are done. Then I pull up the next batch and start again. Also helps keep the appearance a bit more consistent in each squad as they are getting painted at the same time usually.
Have a friend who is too detail oriented for his own good. He can't do anything by a hyper detailed uber paint job on every figure. Combine this with his dislike of playing with unpainted minis and his IG army hasn't grown in years. He is so insane that even his epic scale chaos marines and chaos champions have hand painted chapter markings on the shoulder pads for his custom named chaos legion...

I paint while watching reruns on netflix so over a long evening. Last time i timed myself though was:
HQ: spent about 7 hours (including waiting for layers to dry) for coteaz... Not looking forward to finishing up my other HQs if it takes that long (i have a chaplain/captain in TDA to finish).
Troops/elites: I painted a 5 man sternguard squad (the new kits are amazing, lots of detail), and 3 bikers in about 9 hours. Took my time since I was paying more attention to the TV so i say it averages out to 30 mins or so each.

It really varies for me and I never really keep track of time. I usually split up jobs and do multiple models over the course of days.
I think I managed to get 16 Kroot done in probably about 4 hours with the assistance of an airbrush. I lined them up and started doing layers of green of different shades, by the time I got to the last the first was dry and I'd start over. Did a quick wash and then did simple colors for the gun and leather then simple bases. I still consider them a work in process. while I'm trying to finish up some other work. Really though I have too many things that are in progress to really consider what I actually have fully done.

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."
"The argument is that we have to do this or we will, bit by bit,
lose everything that we hold dear, everything that keeps the business going. Our crops will wither, our children will die piteous
deaths and the sun will be swept from the sky."

As an Ork player I've learned to do it quickly and effecitvely (ie, washes aka liquid talent)
Can knock out a reasonably looking Ork boy in 20 mins. Haven't painted much but various boyz and ork vehicles which are 90% undercoat really.

Single IG trooper: very short period of time (like 2 min) Im not going to do hyper detail on a single foot trooper.
Commander/Elite infantry: unsure. its been a while since I've painted one.... but its much longer then a normal trooper.
Tank/vehicle: can range from a few hours to taking multiple days (hour or 2 sessions through a few days) the bigger the vehicle the longer obviously... plus it depends on motivation.

I typically spend ~1-2 hours per basic troopers, plus basing (I haven't really based anything yet.) Commanders, special weapons and sergeants hit anywhere from 3-15 hours depending on the model... Hence why almost none of my stuff is painted after almost 6 years! Edit: I should not I can rush models in ~10 min each for a ok basecoat, ~30 min each for decent paint. But it's 2 hours for a quality and look I'm happy with.) _e

Really hard to say. I paint my models in an assembly line style (I do all the foundations, then all the first layers, then all the second layers) in each unit, so I'm having to guess at how long gets spent per model. In that regard, I'd say 1-1.5 hours each.

It takes me ages to paint a unit, and to a very basic standard. I would guess it would take me 2 hours per model.

Per model? Difficult to say.
I generally try to paint an entire unit at the same time. That way I'm sure the color scheme is actually the same. I don't take notes and I'm not that great at figuring out what paints were used on completed models.
Also, I don't finish a unit in one sitting. I may spend 15 minutes putting the base coat on a unit then a few weeks later do the next step. All said and done, I probably spend about 3 to 4 hours total on a 10 man unit; which would come out to 20 or so minutes each?
